Finally tackled the S364/73 with WG housing that ate a melted piston on a 8.3L Cummins.

Got the housing up around 4-450° and with a light tap of a 4lb sledge and drift punch it popped loose.

Someone mentioned some type of chemical that I can dip stuff that eats aluminum??

Didn't have the FLIR gun out when I started ??‍♂️
Edit found it.. sodium hydroxide thanks to @pl_silverado

You can run a spring actuator or an aftermarket diaphragm actuator from someone like Turbosmart. I do not know who makes a longer adjustment rod/rod end for the OEM Borg actuator.

I use the Stainless spring actuator here and they are very nicely made/very good parts.

Gues I might be making one...

Sucks being responsible adult, I found who bought the Hamilton cam line I got from Zach Hamilton years ago back in August last year, hit them up again and seams they don't offer the line anymore ??‍♂️

I know Eric at No limit will make custom cams, I'm sure that's going to have a one off premium price to it. That's no fault of his own

What is your need/desire for a custom cam? We have a plethora of great cams available to us at a few different price points.

The Hamilton cams for the GM platform never took off. Why? That's likely speculation. My guess is they are NOT a well known or respected Duramax brand, little market share, and we already had tons of great options from Wagler, Comp, and SoCal at the time.

I want this cam again..
IMG_1664 (1).JPG

I loved the off idle and part throttle response.
And the fact I did not have to modify pistons to run it. And it would work very well with stated goals of the truck.

Unfortunately the one still in the block I tore apart back on October '17 I never closed back up once I found #4 main web was cracked. So I'm deducting it's most likely have rust on the lobes.

Seams 3/4 of the cams available have mistery specs that no one is willing to advertise, reminds me of stacking tunes again??‍♂️

Have you checked out Callies? They have quite a few options and list all the specs you'd expect, definitely not going to be as cheap as Hamilton was selling them though

I left a message with "Justin" at Callie's about their camshafts and if they would make a custom one..

Did get a quote for a cam doctor.
Left a question with Wagler, can't get a hold of anyone at comp cams, haven't bothered with
industrial injection yet.
This is closest to what I've found... If it's legitimate

PPE, Socal, Wagler brand cams don't release specs and few times I've talked to a rep it's talking about a blind shot in the dark with a blank check??‍♂️

I looked into a cam doctor as well... I ended up paying for the correct follower for the Dmax roller size Instead and just pay to use some elses...

Check out Powell Machine https://www.powellmachineinc.com/ if you send him the one you like, he can can doctor the lobes and match it provided he can get a core. Never hurts to ask, and I don't think he is opposed to building more products into his lineup.

He has a youtube channel and is not afraid to offer knowledge to the public. Like listening to him educate about cams.

Went and snapped a picture of the cam in the block, seams pretty good some surface rust that some steel wool or green/brown scrub pads will clean up.

Probably dig the engine out and pull it down then drop everything in a bucket of engine oil

@jlawles2 I'll shoot him an email

Is it really worth the added cost just to mimic a cam? A callies stage 1 will do everything you want and is ~$700.

All of the below cams do not require reliefs.

Comp has 2-3 options
Callies stage 1
Wagler stage 1
SoCal 3388

These are the two that are the closest

IRRC Callie stg 1 and Wagler Stg 1 are almost identical

Socal 3388 I've yet to find specs for.

As of right now, no one has come back with a price to duplicate what I have, much less a "FU" rate.
I'm sure there's going to be a premium thus little more than off the shelf price and I'm ok with that

Also add I'll be able to run high flow 3" intake and upgraded exhaust system which will wake it up substantially

FWIW I have some 200k.miles worth of experience with that cam towing upwards of 30,000lbs... It works

The Callies stage 1 and the Wagler stage1 std firing order are the same. The number on the back of cam core comes back as the callies part number. You can look at the advertised spec as well as the cam card from the cam report I did on it.

Powel is very knowledgeable. I wouldn't hesitate as he stands behind his stuff.
The blank cores can be purchased through callies for custom grinding so it's a none issue. I wouldn't be surprised if the grind private label cams for wagler. Usually there's an NDA and they won't tell you.
