Heavy boat for the reg cab is about 12k. If it’s heavier than that I get the diesel. I thought cooling was based on horsepower? The 408 makes twice the hp and the same torque as the L5p so I was thinking they would have close to the same cooling demand. I would think the electric fans would be much better in traffic since they pull thru the radiators.

It's also efficiency. A diesel being more efficient at making the same HP using less fuel or less waste heat will have less to reject in the cooling stack. But diesels also tend to be run harder and longer so they need to have a stack to accommodate that

Right now, no electric fan can compete with a mechanical fan when the clutch is engaged. Stop and go or not the mechanical will win every time

Crank balancer OD is ~7.75"
Fan hub pulley OD is ~5.9"
If my tired mind did math right... 5.9 into 7.75 is 1.31:1 or 31% over driven. At ~3000 crank rpm the fan input shaft is spinning ~4000rpm
In full lock up on a thermal clutch
~10% slip is ~3500rpm say the Hayden 2886 clutch
~30% slip ~2700rpm say OEM clutch.

It's more HP during a given time frame ..
500hp sustained for 60 minutes
Or
500 HP sustained for 10 seconds

Yup, pretty much this.

I dont know what cfm the 2020’s pull but when you fully lock up that clutch with bolts, i went from 8-9mpg towing up hill to 6-7mpg at 2800rpm and that mother fucker howels! I would not want to run a fully locked fan on those. Its a significant hp drop and fuel mpg drop

Do you have crayons and a bar napkin? might be able to whip something up...
Got to pull some shrouds off and possibly the pulley to get the shaft OD Google says crank is 1" or 1-1/8" on the Honda 630s V twins

Orders cam bolts, via kryptonite
alignment pins via ultimate alignment pins
new fuel filler housing (part that connects the fill hose to bed side) through GM parts via Amazon,
2886 fan clutch, mechanical oil pressure gauge. Via summit racing
All on Friday the 8/1 close to COB. ...
Summit racing stuff is already here, the pins and filler housing might be here Friday.. the cam bolts haven't even left the building...

Called kryptonite asked why I haven't gotten a tracking number or notification stuff has shipped ...I figured either I forgot to check send me tracking number or something on my end...i Got the "we're swamped the stuff might go out by Friday the 8th" response.. retorically asked so 4-5 business days to ship stuff that's in stock and can fit in one's hand?.. that's impressively under whelming.
Thinking that's ridiculous.. I'd expect multiple days to ship on large bulky bulky with lots of parts... Say, lift kit.. not something that's easy stocked "assembled "

Course Google didn't populate any searches showing 3rd party vendors had said cam bolts available or in stock.

Changed oil used about 1.5qt for 10k miles..
Oil pressure gauge is going to be mounted on #1 main gallery plug.. get an idea what stock pressure is running, I know the dash isn't accurate, and the front dif kinda blocks #2 and #3 mains. It's got some weeping leaks, not sure how much is what. I do have a PPE lower oil pan on the shelf.. I have a new melling 316 pump, on the shelf as well. I might acquire the new M561.. that would answer question i saw in how it compares to stock..

Picked up some new 12-1.75 flanged 10.8 bolts with some uss thick washers for bed bolts.. pressure washed the bed.. picked up some Rust-Oleum protective enamel white paint.. eye balled a bunch of 5" orbital sanders.. at Lowe's.. probably get a corded version and an adapter to hook to a shop vac hose. I know if I repaint the bed I need to get it done in the next 4-6 weeks or it gets too cold

Well that sucks... I sent some stuff in for warranty and didn't hear anything back for about 2 weeks. So emailed them about it and they next day all my replacement stuff but 1 item back to me. Of course Reno to CA is alot closer. And when they figured out what happened with the missing part, they did the same.

Still no news, on the kryptonite..
Found SPC version(86375) and summit has them in stock, as soon as kryptonite opens I'm cancelling the order.. downside is I don't know if they're PST or MST I've got info saying both..

The fact they haven't done a ~15 minute job in 4+ days is really annoying,

Got a hold of them this morning and cancelled the order.. when asked why, told them their inability to prompt and efficiently get stuff out the door in a timely manner for stuff that is in stock ready to ship..Then he started making excuses, told him, I'm not the one that's taken 4+ days and failed to do a ~15 minute job. I ordered a set of SPC version and they'll be at my place Tuesday..
Asked refund time frame said 5-10 days pending bank.

SPC are ~40.00 cheaper.. IDK if they're better or not compared to kryptonite..

11 days later everything that I ordered has arrived.. even the SPC stuff I ordered the 8/8
USPS got the alignment pins on the 4th and took 7 days to get to me from Santa Rosa CA to Ohio.
Got the bed in the shop.. so I can get sanding to rough the paint up.

Swapped wheels around.. didn't realize how bad the front suspension on the suburban was?? so now I have my 5" BS wheels in the front and 6" BS wheels in the back..
Not really fond of that look

And fuel sending unit is getting moist thus collecting Dust, better get that replaced while the bed is off..

So some progress

Well some more stuff has shown up.. figured shortly after I put the bed on the sending unit is going from weeping to full blown leaking..
Summit has fpe sure flow in stock, plus picked up some AN adapters to go to my fuel lines..
Still don't have fuel return cooler on the truck thinking adding this. Maybe plug a temp switch somewhere for the fan
Picked up a 5" orbital sander and ordered adapters to connect to my 2.5" shop vac hose.

If it fits, it ships! Lol. I was hoping to see some one do a fuel cooler but so far nothing has panned out. So I guess we are all on our own to do what we think might work.

So as long as you have a place for it, I don't see why that wouldn't work.

It's going in the stock area, probably angle the air discharge to shoot towards the cab/bed gap
IIRC only person to really do an aftermarket fuel cooler was Mike L and Kennedy.

Why not use a factory cooler pre tank on the return?
Fuel lines where all rotted out and cooler was junk, and it's well known they're barely efficient.
Currently both supply and return lines are Parker 801 -8/-6 hoses

Different situation, but I did what James did and got a bar and plate cooler from summit and put a fan on it. The first one sprung a leak and now I have data to compare no cooler to having one. If I get out with the trailer when it’s hot again.

Beat the shit out of the old one, picked up new lock ring (GM #TR26) IDK FPE the unit that would connect to OEM quick connects
Swap the lines over to parker 801s later.
It's got a 2nd return port that I'll plumb the aux tank to feed through as well.
