What I quickly checked to see if it was intact is considered G103.

G104 is not as easy to reach and this is the one that is referenced with the codes. But I didn't have that data with me at the time.

I'm more impressed it was not sucked in half like a taco and shoved down the intake tube. That alone should tell you something about the structural build quality of the filter.

Amazing how people only read a portion of the title of a part. Lifetime filter but they do not know it needs to be cleaned occasionally, probably more than changing a paper filter.

The oiled/washable style filters make a ton of sense on gas rigs because they're throttled and only move the air they use. I actually get 50k miles or more between cleanings on my car. But diesels flow a ton of air, and I am lucky to get 10k miles before I have to wash the filter. If I could still run a stock air box and paper filters on my truck, I 100% would.

It's not so much diesels, but anything turbocharged. Even the newer, smaller displacement turbocharged engines I notice need air filters changed very frequently.
This clogged k&n is out of a fleet silverado 6.6 gasser with 173k on it. Makes ya wonder just how many miles it's been in here to be this bad

Pretty cool when a lml does that, send the plastic grate into the turbo and then they need a turbo too lol

We warn so many customers and they just dont wanna listen. Shit, we dont even charge labor to change the filters and mark up is only 20% over cost!

I have to clean the filter on my supercharged truck regularly, it picks up trash off the road. I think anything with boost needs more regular filter cleanings or changes.

Here’s a good one. No pictures cause well there’s no way to take pictures.

Customer drops a early Lbz off (so LLY in GM’s eyes). His issue is the vehicle overheats while towing uphill during the summer. Says it’s getting a 230° way too easy.

So I hop in to go take it for a test drive and realize he has a banks Tuner set up in there so I kick it all the way down to stock level. I find he’s got it on level two. So as I’m driving it. I decide to stand on the throttle, this thing blows a bunch of black smoke, takes off like a rocket burning out through second gear. And straight flat out gets it. I bumped the banks up to level two and now it’s the thing really hauls ass.

So I quit romping on it and call the customer and start talking to him. Come to find out he went to one of the shady shops I know here in Arizona and he had him put in a. “ LBZ calibration.” That was supposed to be 100% stock. Well, this shop that he takes it to doesn’t have stock calibrations so we both figured there’s at least a 50 hp tune on this ECM plus the banks on top of it..

So this dude’s been ripping around like the old school days with stacked tuners on his truck and realized that all of his temp issues started after he put the banks in not long after he had the ECM reflashed lol . So we’re gonna get him a stock LBz calibration to flash in and start from there.

As far as the overheat issue, he just doesn’t realize that these things need to get up to about that point before that fan fully kicks in and start cooling temp back down. We’re still gonna run the truck up the hill with a loaded trailer on it just to make sure everything‘s good after we reflash the ECM But he at least has a full understanding of the truck now
