I'll play devils advocate here... My wife works in Healthcare, if she called off / took PTO every time a kid had the sniffles she'd be fired 10x over. Sounds good in a perfect world but doesn't work in practice IMO.

That being said I think our two must have a great immune system, or they can actually keep their fingers out of their mouths :ROFLMAO: . With everything going around between school and daycare they really don't bring home anything worth noting

Thirty plus years ago when my oldest came down with chicken pox, it wasn't hard to track the source. Neighbors grandson, and they fully knowing invited my kids over to play, on purpose.. Oh by they way, Johny has the chicken pox, 5 hours later...

That was how it was around our house with pox. 4 boys, all got it within 2 weeks. Sisters were too young so Mom kept them away from us.

Pure, that wasnt what I meant. There's over-reacting (what you describe) and responsibility (kid has fever, constant snot nose, cough, etc -- the obvious signs). Daughter told me about one instance where this overly-self-important mom brought their obviously sick kid to daycare, and when told that the child couldnt be left there bc, ya know --- sick ---, she flipped out, saying, "I have a meeting this morning! You MUST take him for at least 4 hours so I can get my work done!" Han told me it was an interesting argument the day care managers had with that mom. She ended up losing.
My wife and I used to have an agreement that when the kids were sick, we'd take turns taking work off to stay home.

Anyway, off my soapbox. Sorry about getting preachy. I just hate modern parenting.

I had chicken pox in my childhood. I remember most kids got and spread it at school one summer. I think it took me about one week to get over it. I don't remember it being too bad other then not being able to go outside and play.

As of yet, I don't know of anyone in my friend's or family that has had shingles.

We have a guy at work who calls off for his kids being sick. He has 4 weeks of vacation and I think he uses over 3 weeks of it for them.

Left a message earlier today with the company, some what expressing my annoyance about the lack of being upfront signature required on all purchases.

Got a call back about 730 pm from guessing the owner. He gave his speel on why they require it, 90% of which I knew about from having friends that are business owners.

He couldn't grasp that I'm not annoyed about the requirement. What im annoyed about is the fact I had to wait 3 days to find out after the fact about signature required. Had the information been readily available I'd have entered an address to place that's manned as I'm generally not home during normal delivery hours M-F. And even if I fill the slip out, and say pick it up in person local to see only dies it M-F.

He said they always require signatures for orders

Told him I've never done business with you, so how am I supposed to know this? Especially When nothing even hits about this when going through online ordering, had it did, we would not be having this conversation.

To which he asked where would I like it to be send, told him change the address to my employer, there will be someone there between 8-5 M-F.

Gues we'll find out.

You are right, that should have been stated in bold somewhere on their online checkout area under the "shipping" charges. Its too bad you dont have a good relationship with your driver. If he's been out there a while, some guys will simply leave the box and scribble something on the pad for you.

Unfortunately, I don't ship enough often enough to build a relationship.

I generally ship the stuff to a relatives place as they're generally home after 3pm, even though my driveway is ~1/2 mile long and the house is in the middle of a ~400ac field.

I've ran across few guys I've known through other activities at the time, haven't seen them in while IE over 10 years.

The shipping guys at the steel places I load will do that then throw the BOLs on the truck seat or door handle for me. Basic outside in-house trucks lol

Due to VA healthcare shenanigans and general single payer BS I'm heading to my mom's house tomorrow
Pretty sure she bruised the bone on 23rd when she fell... broke her tibia this passed Tuesday 10/28 and VA has making making her jump through hoops that don't go very far. For Ortho apts and home healthcare..
Good news today... VA approved the home healthcare to start on 11/12, she's wheelchair bound for the most part, and VA bitching about a ramp ??‍♂️???‍♂️?

Boss's seam to be cool about it, and I didn't need to beat them up with FMLA stuff should be able to head back home on the 12th or 13th maybe sooner if they get their shit together..

I'm grateful I'm not broke to the point of having to be reliant on the VA myself
