Bracing for another storm coming through. Supposed to get an inch today and another inch tomorrow and Tuesday for 3 inches. More then what California can soak up in three days. Might be a little flooding. Then the rest of the week is light rain.

Also supposed to be some wind gusts. Some reporting 45 mph.

Going to be cleaning the gutters and putting outdoor furniture away....

We are going to get some of that in Vegas too. I might have to turn the heat back on.

My son is not made a bit of progress at the hospital in the 3 weeks he's been there. We went and saw him yesterday. He head butted me a few times and scratched me pretty good. Then threw up his dinner. He's never had that issue and now does if they let him have more then 1 glass of liquid with dinner..... It was tuff knowing at best he got 4 more months before insurance won't pay for anymore of his stay. He wasn't so drug up that we got a few smiles out of him thought atleast. My wife held it together until we where on our way home. I lost it walking away from him down the hallway of the hospital.

We had a hell of a week last week. It's funny to me that @JoshH posted that picture because I was gonna swing by the shop on Friday and talk to him since we where in DFW. We didn't have time but apparently it wouldn't have worked out for him either. Ouch! These new trucks might be junk, but the are safe

My daughter had a TKD competition and ended up taking 2 gold medals home in taekwondo. She obliviated the competition. She won 4 matches by point gap 12-0. A full match is 2 minutes and she had won every match by 20-30 seconds. She was fighting without her coach even. More on that. We where super proud of her. This was the first competition I had been to in a year due to my son behaviors. She is Red in the video.
My daughter's TKD coach couldn't be at the competition because his 3yo son fell and fractured his skull. He recovered fine, but it took a few days to figure that out. The doctors didn't really want to dose him with radiation since he seemed to be okay at first. We're very close to their family and they sought my wife's opinion since she is an RN. She agreed with the doctors however that night he began throwing up and they rushed him into the hospital which ended up him being life flighted to another hospital due to swelling in the brain and the fracture. My wife obviously blamed herself because that's the way she is and had a bit of a breakdown. Luckily the swelling never got any worse and he's gonna be okay.
Since we were driving to DFW for a competition we decided to go see family and friends in NE. I haven't seen anybody there in 3 years and hadn't even spoken to my mom in 2 years due to family drama. We had just recently started speaking again. Well one of our very good friends' in NE brother-in-law had a stroke right before we got there and he is likely not going to recover. We gotta see my sister right before she went in for spinal surgery. Found out my mom needs a 5th spine surgery, but only if they can get her bone density backup to where it might work this time. Everyone else is doing pretty good even my 90-year-old grandparents somehow. So it was a good visit regardless of the onslaught of unfortunate events. Our friends and family came through on short notice to make it a good trip. We are blessed to have them there to support us.

I’ve been thinking about a 15-19 gas 3/4 Chevy. New enough to feel newer. Not new enough for 10 speed.

It'll be a little while before the 6.6 l gas engine ever proves itself to be as reliable as a 6.0 but I've been pretty happy with mine so far. You can get the 6.6 l gas with a 6 speed transmission up until '24 I think. My mileage is awesome but it does burn 2 qt of oil between every oil change. Which doesn't bother me.

You definitely have a full plate.

I have so much respect for your ability to continue pushing forward being there for your wife and family. A very big part of me feels like if I were faced with your circumstances I would be curled up inside of a bottle, no good to anyone.

Praying for your family.

What do you want to know?

UPS is trying to reduce its older workforce thru the buyouts. Why? UPS desperately wants to lower the wage and benefit package to more closely match Amazon. Think less than 1/2 of what drivers and part-timers are being paid now. They have figured out how much they can pay people to do the job and keep them, and dont really care about the quality of the job done. They've figured out how far they can reduce quality and services and still keep customers.
Volume is NOT down. They just want to have the entire operation running like its peak season all year, as paying OT for four people is cheaper in the long run than paying for an extra driver or two, all-in.
They want to accomplish this thru a sunsetting two-tier wage schedule, and they want the majority of the workforce to have 5 or less years seniority so they are in wage progression schedule and have no vote. It'll be a "take it or leave it" offer, too. In fact, they may even be trying to break the union, which would accomplish their end goals, too. All to line their own pockets.
I told my co-workers with 25-30 years in to wait til spring for another buyout offer, as UPS wasnt going to get the response to the August offer that they thought they would. I was right. They did not, so they are offering far more this time around. I wasnt going to wait. I had to get out when I did.
As for the Teamsters bitching about it: Keep in mind, the Teamsters only really represent themselves anymore, not the rank-and-file that pay their wages thru dues BASED on our hourly wage! Since UPS is by far the largest Teamster employer, any wage regression at UPS will negatively affect the Teamster operating budget, which those fat-cats just cannot have.

God, I needed to vent that.

Glad I could help you vent 😂

I knew this was coming when the Teamsters forced wage increases at 1.5-2x national market rate
That same BS is what helped finish off Yellow.

Avg CDL-A driver around me, W/O HM is 75-100k a year,
With HM endorsement one can avg around 100-150k but usually need 5-7 year clean driving record
