Day 2 with New guy, Went and raised hell about equipment not being 100% 100% of the time..🤦🏻‍♂️

Trying to use how anal he is about safety in manipulating fashion 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣

Claimed DOT REQUIRED shocks to be changed every 100k miles on a CMV🙄🤦🏻‍♂️

49 CFR § 570.61 for vehicle over 10k says other wise.

Truck rides rough, unless the drives are about 45-50,000lb. This is a day cab with 14k steer 46k drives and 16ply 22.5 all around at max cold psi except the steers. And the truck is ~21,000 bobtail..

Got some non dot required chicken lights out, some other random stuff that isn't consistent enough to bitch about.

He'd be pissed how bad the trucks were when they got to us with less than 50 miles on them🤣

And the fact it's passed 2 level 1 inspection in its current condition... Will probably blow his mind🤣

Our mechanics used to hate me for my DVIR writeups, until one mechanic, Dana (RIP), read the rest the riot act to shut them up. She liked having easy quarterly PMIs bc everything was already repaired. :ROFLMAO: I also hated on-road vehicle breakdowns.

The truck definitely need a 3 axle alignment, their fix for cupped tires is new tires.

These are 23/24 model trucks with 4 battery banks with low voltage disconnects....you let them sit for 4-5 days they're dead, shops solutions new batteries, then blame battery brand after putting 3 sets in.🤦🏻‍♂️

Mine has a check engine light on.. since 40k miles.. shop has no clue clear it, says if there is no power degradation ignore it..

They wouldn't rotate the drive tires.

Engine drinks ~1 gallon of oil everything 17-20k miles and oil service change is at 50,000 miles.. foreman said this is "normal" for a 23/24 X15...

Trailer needs an alignment as well...
Along with decent amount of work on the canopy. Mainly all track wheels need replaced and rear structure needs fixed... Mainly for ease of operation, it's not "broke" but it's not "right"

Radiator coolant cools the transmission in an external cooler on the transmission.. had coolant leak due to line run, it passed hot/cold pressure tests and would leak ~1gl every 100-150 miles.. I had to video recording it leaking to show to foreman to get it fix🤦🏻‍♂️

I have no idea what corporate policies they have at the leasing company that causes this.

We tell them no recaps.. just had one blow on another truck( with recap) and it took out 4-5 crossmember in the front of one of our Rietnour big bubba trailers.. couple are full width crossmembers
We had 2 months 3 active drivers 4 of the 5 leased trucks where in the shop

Well I might not have shadow come Monday, old boy got pissed at not being able to work chains and binders this afternoon.. threw 2-3 that I know of and said F this place and their junk equipment this is the worst place Ive worked for...🤷🏻‍♂️

IDK new binders and chains aren't going to be any easier 🙄🤣
Yeah new chains typically need to "wear" in a bit or need to be overtightened to keep them from feeling a bit loose. New binders are also a bit rougher than "slightly" used ones that have had a little wear on them to smooth out the rough spots.

Lubrication on binders is a must or they will rust up and get almost impossible to use. My personal binders for my trailers all get grease shot into the body to help keep the threads lubricated in the body.

Chains are brown and not the shiny yellow since G70 chains are new, binders are all greased and lubed as I don't like working harder then I have to.

He can't grasp, if the chain is on your right and binder on your left, pull the chain with left hand pull binder with right, and chain runs under binder hand role chain into binder hook.

He continually pushes everything together and leaves a lot of slop, which in turns allows the binder falling out of the J-hook or off the chain, while tightening, and doesn't make sure the binder is fully extended when starting, because he bottoms out the binder before the chain is tight.

I can show you but I can't learn it for you. 😂

You can lead a horse to water…

Had to let a tech go yesterday. Kid said he was a C tech on interview back in september 25. Quickly found out he was not. He was below a lube tech imho. He had promise though as he was eager to learn, didnt fuck around on his phone and took criticism well. I spent ALOT of time training this kid

Well fast forward to this month. Hes still yet to dial in our detailed inspections, still wants to rip and tear and not pay attention to details, and is costing me money. My other techs have had enough of him and my service writer has too. Ive had countless one on ones with him about training that i provide for him (and him not doing them or going to paid ones) as well as talks about him going backwards. Last straw was a new sump for a lml reductant tank. 2 hour job max. 4 hours later, not following service manual, not paying attention to pump orientation, and washing the open sump with water thats in the tank allowing water into the tank, we were all done.

He was completely shocked yesterday .
