Going to traffic court this morning. First ticket in 38 years. Failure to use tirn signal when changing lane. We will see how it comes out. I was cut off and moved over abruptly to keep from hitting the guy who cut me off. I have the video from my semi to show. Probably a lost cause.

The police actually gave a ticket for that? Only way I can see them charging you is if you hit someone or caused an accident behind you. If you have video, IMO you have a strong case against it. Good luck.

Probably is a Lost cause, and even if you do get it thrown out, insurance will still go up, and safety will say it's still you're fault??‍♂️?

They/Michigan gave me a ticket for truck in an illegal lane(#1 on a 3 lane) for going around 2 slow moving vehicle in lane 2 and 3 in low visibility.. basically caught me after I got around dangerously unnecessarily slow vehicles in the wrong lanes..
and proceeded to tell safety is more important than being legal.
Because not all safe things are legal and not every legal thing is safe

Ah, the old "commercial vehicle using the far left lane on a three lane freeway". I got one of those way back when. I see Canadian truckers do it all the time on 96/69 out by me, even flying past the State Trooper that sits just off Exit 93, who does nothing about it.
My point on 66ss's ticket is that Ive seen that happen so many times with commercial semi's that Ive lost track, yet he got a ticket for it? If he didnt cause an issue with traffic around him, there was no reason for the leo to issue that ticket. Would the leo rather the semi hit the actual offender and possible hurt/kill himself or the other driver? If so, they have their priorities in the wrong place.

I was at a restaurant having lunch and saw a couple highway patrol officers come in and asked one about trucks in the number one number two lanes with four lanes on the freeway. I said why don't you pull them over? They're constricting the traffic by being over in those two lanes and I actually once saw a wife or girlfriend she was looking out the passenger window and looking back for the CHP officers. He said a lot of the times there aren't safe areas to pull the trucks over and it can cause more of a problem and cause the traffic to get worse with them trying to pull the rig over.

Michigan and Ohio love pulling oversize loads over in areas with little to no been especially construction zones over in this side of the state

I witnessed an accident about a year ago and it was not the truck driver's fault, but I could see where the car could lie and make it seem that it was. So I turned around and waited for the police. Sure enough, she lied her ass off and the Driver was beside himself. 20yrs and never an accident, etc. I told him why I came back and waited, and he was almost in tears. I told the cop what I saw and you could see that he was pissed at that lady. Her insurance company contacted me and it was brief. I made notes after I spoke to the cop, so that I wouldn't forget a single detail. That driver could have had a much worse day, lol.

We drivers had a saying down at UPS that "the driver is always at fault" in any accident, because the company could find fault in our actions no matter what had actually happened. It was frustrating.

Not sure if any of you were following the UPS plane crash, but the NTSB came out with a report recently.

Just like AA 191 in 1979.
I read that somewhere this morning. Sounds like they have imagery of the engine departing the wing. Crazy that it's still a problem. You'd think maintenance crews would follow the instructions to a T after the crash in 79.
