Don’t believe everything you hear. They still have to go thru the 4l80 quite often at 1000 hp. I’m on my 4th 6l80 build, the new builder has some super secret stuff him and circle d figured out. Hopefully the new trans can hold the 408.

I feel this. The old limo went through a trans every 2 years almost on the dot. Always for something different too. Price you pay to play I suppose

Back in the early 90's I attempted to push 800hp thru a 700R4 in a 3rd gen. Working with an experienced transmission guy at the time, we could get em to hold 600 fine, but ya only got 3 or 4 good hits with the spray before 3rd would just vanish.

As we discovered and someone later resolved, they were separating the 3rd gear drum from the shaft, leaking pressure and smoking the clutch pack. All my buddies kept saying Powergluide it. I keep saying, me like that overdrive on the way to the track...

I agree that they are the strongest stock. With big power I don’t care what is behind it. You’re going back into it more than you want too. 😂

Why I put limits on the big block in my Malibu wagon, has to be 87oct friendly, and 6-650hp is about the limit of most big single disc clutches that have reasonably good street manners.
Also the trans is rated for 700tq, the 3" 1350 steel driveshaft and the 31spline 8.8 out back will probably handle more the 700tq... When people find out it's a 9:1 BBC they automatically ask if I'm putting forces induction on it in some fashion.. uh no lol

*IS a fun ride, DA coilovers and MPFI are next step along with some additional frame facing. Turning the Edelbrock RPM carb intake into a MPFI intake. All sitting under stock hood line too.
Currently sits on 275/40/17s squared eventually will sit on 315s squared
575-600hp 9:1 482ci BBc gen 6 block with T56 behind it

My neighbor has a similar wagon. I’ll have to snap a pic. He has a 351 on the spray, I can’t tell you how many people he has taken money from. It’s the definition of a sleeper. It’s bad ass! Nice work!

Nice! I stop hustling like that long time ago.. don't need to entertain that heat with a CDL.

Bench racing say it should be around 11.50-12.00 at 115-120mph in the 1/4.
If it pulls low 12s or anything faster I'll be content for a car that is not dedicated drag and substantially more road course setup
I'm usually 17-19mpg with a carb on the old 468 engine hopefully be low mid 20s with MPFI on the new engine
Hotrod power tour here i come 😎

Anyone get pictures of the Northern lights last night? I was outcold.
IMO the ones coming across my IG/FB are substantially better than the eclipse pictures

My friend from the panhandle of Idaho set me these. The first one was directly overhead when she took the picture.
