Not trying to start anything but i know what im talking about, the 97/98 ls1 had perimeter bolts, i just double checked with my friend that owns a vette shop.

Also if it were a auto it would be slower, might launch better but that would be about it.

I agree. I dont think any LSx engines have center bolt valve covers...I could be wrong tho.

He will have you by 60-65. You better limit the race to that. Good 4x4 launch will be needed as well.

all the 99+ have center bolts, they are a better flowing head as well, i could go into truck heads as well but they are all centerbolts but some are cast iorn...

here are my covers for my 04 (99+)

I really dont think he will beat you, its a 10 year old car and stock engined ls1 non frc vettes just arnt that quick, hes a manual so he will start to pull on topend but he isnt going to hit 170 or anything like that... a friends obs lq9/4l80e truck will pull a 04 auto/modded vette just for some reference he runs a 13.5

94 vette? thats suprising! c5 should eat a c4 alive, a manual might beat him if what u say is true but i just cant see a auto doing it, tape it and we will see

OT Luke, but I was wondering why ditch the 6.0L for your SS? I have always loved the way those trucks drive.

ah good question, i built a 408 stroker out of the 6.0 at wyotech, it had problems like burning oil (there piston ring filer was bad) so it had to come out, at the same time i had already started spending money on my turbo kit, so i picked up a 4.8 short block for about 200$$ threw the 6.0 heads on it and some arp bolts in it, should be good to turn 7500-8000 rps with 20ish psi

AHH!! DUH!!!! Im thinking center bolts like the old SBC style...not the multiple LSx center bolt style. I just put an LSx in my beetle a month ago and I still screwed that up, I feel stupid. :D

just hope he cant drive.....and make sure you get a good launch cause once you hit 3rd gear or so he'll be gaining...maybe throw some loose dirt on the starting line

figure that vette at 3500lbs and 330hp to be conservative to your 450-70ish hp on your truck at 6500+lbs....hope its stick and that he blows the tires off it....

in those conditions the auto will probably run faster and get a better launch

I hope he can drive.

BTW, I know for a fact that this tune is 500hp and I am going to try and have my trucks weight down closer to 6000. You have to remember, he could only dream about I have torque I have with a diesel.

What is the torque on those 400? I am probably closer to 1000.

ok, you're right...i thought the vette i last messed with was a 98...it was a 99.

806 Heads - 97-98 Heads..Perimeter Head Bolt
853 Heads - 99-00 Heads..Center Head Bolt
241 Heads - 01-02 Heads..Center Head Bolt

Weight, gearing, tire height, and rpm/hp all have an effect on that. You should have him out of the hole.

An LS1/LS6 will pull crisply from 1000-6500+ rpm.

While my numbers posted refer to bone stock cars, if the guy has done minor tweaks to it, the performance changes significantly.

Our 2000 LS1 Camaro weighed 3660 raceweight, about 300lb over the C5. With minor tweaks and seat-time it ran 12.52@111. Stock engine, trans, clutch. Tires, exhaust, tuning, intake made it significantly faster than stock.

If I had an early C5, you can bet it would run low 12's or better and appear very stock. Our Z06 ran 11.77@118 with minor bolt-ons. 11.95@114 stock.
