Trying to help my brother out he just got a 2006 3500 Express with a 6.0 and 4L80 that has a GM Dana 60S with 3.73s and an open diff. Options seem pretty limited on lockers/lsd for this axle as from what I've read its 33 spline. Hes looking to swap to a dana 70 or a later model van 14 bolt to be able to have a locker or better LSD. Did all the duramax vans come with a dana 70? And does anyone know if the 14 bolts will swap right in?

Are there differences between JL4 (active brake control) RPO Code axles and non-JL4? They are separated in carpart.com categories.

My Duramax powered van came with a Dana 70S. I'm not sure the locker/LSD selection would be any better for that than the 60S.

The current plan is to get a D70 that has a G80 option and swap that in for now which it seems all the duramax cargo/passenger had. We were going to get one from a SRW chassis cab van as those could have been optioned with 4.10s but the spring perches are narrower as the frames are different. The D70s are a weird GM variant but still 35 splined so you can get a different locker/lsd in it with some work. Seems like there is nothing for the 33 spline D60 thats in it now.
