The 22LR ammo is more the 70s glass cylinder fuse setup used on auto. My '75 GMC pickup has those things. I plan on rewiring it with fuse block that uses ATC/ATM size fuses.
These where solid 7/16" in diameter

So your saying that fuse block needs .308 cases to work properly? ?

Myth busters did a show on live ammo as fuses in a vehicle. I don’t remember if they got any to pop, but I’m pretty sure when they did the “extreme” testing, they did.

Just swapped the tires on my LLY for 265/75/16s. When pulling the spare out to get it swapped, I noticed that it was never used. The white paint strip was still visible. Checked the date code and it's from 2005. I bet this tire was on the truck from the factory and was never used. Original owner never needed to use his spare and it stayed up under there for 20 years

Tire is still in pretty good shape. A little crazing on the side pointing up. But nothing I would worry about if the tire was only a few years old. I imagine it could be put back under the bed and go another 20 years.

If cleaned up and a little tire shine, many would think it was still a new tire

Haha, there is that too. Luckily it has already been replaced

My LLy was like that. I believe every gas truck I have owned was also like that.

On my 06 GMC, I hit something on the freeway and it blew a sidewall and had to use the spare. Thank goodness I check the inflation from time to time... I only had to go a few miles to a tire store. Not too long after that I had it replaced just in case because it had signs of dry rot like that and I didn't want to have to worry about it on long trips.

I always thought that bubblegum wrappers or aluminum foil was the correct way to bypass a fuse ?. Never heard of using ammo. So, do I use spent cases or does it have to be live ammo to keep the circuit live? ?

We did it all the time. Both work. Thats how we turned the windshield wipes on and off on several of the 70s chevy trucks we had growing up.
