As you know, I'm in Michigan as well, but I would be surprised and disappointed at those issues at 70k. Front brakes maybe? Not rears. or wheel bearings. Rear brakes dragging may have had a negative effect on MPGs though. It is a good-looking truck.

Oh, I agree. The truck looks good, just wasnt taken care of, and I missed those things on inspection.
The other thing to remember is this was a test truck for its first 14,000 miles. Who knows what the engineers did to it then.

Decided to try to fix the P1478/P1476 for kicks. Everything Ive read and diagnosed pointed to either the DPF sensor or differential pressure sensor.
Wasn't expensive to replace them. CEL didnt immediately trip on 10 mile test drive. Going on a long trip tomorrow, that'll be a good test.

Even that "permanent" P2002 is gone!

"Permanent" DTCs are only "Permanent" in that they can't be cleared with a scan tool. The only way to clear them, unless you're talking about a T87 that you're playing with on the bench (), is to actually fix the problem and once it completes enough cycles without failure, it'll go away.

I had asked a while back if the 2002 could be the root cause of the other codes or if it was the result of them, since that code points directly at a faulty DPF, but nobody knew. The more I looked into the other codes, the more it became clear that it was the latter. Turns out that DPF sensor is used on a lot of diesel cars/trucks, and has been revised and improved since 2016. I understand there is also a tuning update for the 1476/1478 issues available, but I havent done that. I do want to see what this truck really performs like in stock form.

Yeah, couldnt find that Diesel Flush stuff in the single 12oz bottles. Had to buy a lot of it, which isnt ideal to me.

Me thinks a small steady stream of nitrous fed into the beginning of the exhaust stream will burn up all the carbon really well and make that DPF spotless. Don't know how it would do with the ash through

I've always wondered how propane would do for the Cats and DPF as it shouldn't make any soot or ash but will react with the catalyst to make heat and burn up the existing soot. Like the 9th injector feeding additional fuel but using propane

Dont let it go over 1400*, internal melt down will happen lol

We had a cummins tow truck come in with 500k on the original aftertreatment. Hes done nothing but nox sensors (2 of the #1), dpf pressure sensor, egt sensors (all of them once),

Still working just fine. Hes replaced more turbos and actuators than anything

Those DPFs and Cats like to be worked hard and hot. Baby them and your looking at early death
