The Saturn V F-1 engines were the most powerful rocket engines ever built. The SLS rocket needs the Shuttle SRBs to gain the extra power needed to lift Orion into space, though.
I would've loved to see NASA simply bring the Saturn V design out of mothballs and build more of them, but from what I understand it couldnt be done.
I guess modern engineering methods simply couldnt beat slide-rules and abacases.
Im just glad that the mission is going to plan right now. Just hoping the astronauts make it there and back safely.

"In the dark of the Valley" is a good movie documenting what happened and the coverup about the Santa Susana Field Laboratory accident. They say this was a worse accident than Three Mile Island.

Sounds interesting.

I never went down the rabbit hole on 3 mile, but from my understanding nothing in the area was contaminated, just a major fk up from multiple "safety failures"

I think all of them are worse then the three mile island. The media way over hyped the issue.

Another interesting data point. This Artemis project is 100 billion. The California high speed rail is now 135 billion. How is it cheaper to send people the the moon then to run a rail between two cities in the same state? Answer: Because the moon is not in California....

Car finally went as far as light will go in one second



Car is an 2006. That's 20 years to travel the distance light can go in one second. In other words, light is over 630 million times faster then my car
