The Saturn V F-1 engines were the most powerful rocket engines ever built. The SLS rocket needs the Shuttle SRBs to gain the extra power needed to lift Orion into space, though.
I would've loved to see NASA simply bring the Saturn V design out of mothballs and build more of them, but from what I understand it couldnt be done.
I guess modern engineering methods simply couldnt beat slide-rules and abacases.
Im just glad that the mission is going to plan right now. Just hoping the astronauts make it there and back safely.
