I haven’t done much noteworthy work on the truck in the past couple months. I spent some time with the wastegate but that’s for another time. Caltracs we’re finished today and this weekend I’ll find time to do the power steering pump and cooler.

Calvert is an awesome company! I had a problem and Travis built a replacement bar and had it powder coated and in UPS’ hands the same day! That was Friday and it arrived last night. Impressive!

Sadly I had to send me best wrenching buddy to live with my sister-in-law. She couldn’t get along with one of our existing dogs; two bitches in 1 house - FML. I miss her terribly. I fell fast and hard for that angel.
Is that the one you just found while out riding?

Yes, Lucille is the sweet one that I found first. Not the huge Rottweiler I found the week after.

No pics, but I did finally mount the PSC power steering pump. What an unnecessarily pain in the ass job, lol. Truck steers awesome and the brakes are better too.

I was going to add a cooler, but time wasn’t allowing today.

On a positive note, my father came down to visit (my bday is soon) and we hung out wrenching. Too bad it took so many years for that happen, it was actually a nice time.

Did you find that they changed the return hose routing? I just did a PSC on mine and yes, it sucked.

I didn't notice anything different than the OEM that I removed.

Mine came out the side instead of out of the back. The one I replaced came out of the back. I couldn’t get the ecm cover back on either.

Two rotted fenders gone. Pretty suburban fenders on!

OG driver side wasn’t terrible. Wheel well area was rotted though. Passenger side was too far gone.

I grabbed front and rear seats, console, and door cards today. All in great shape except for driver seat bottom. Black Friday should take care of that, lol. Donor was an ‘06.

I’m making a little progress. Some hiccups along the way, as usual.

I completely tore down the front seats. I repaired the driver power lumbar whose cable jumped and its wiring was damaged too. I steamed all of the foam with my wallpaper steamer - and let me tell you, HOLY SHIT does that bring it back to life!! I’m sure that it won’t last as long as new foam, but I’m impressed! I did theseatshop bottom foam and cover on the driver’s side. The seat sits so much higher than stock! Very supportive of my fat ass.

I still need to swap the rear bench and order up seat covers. I did Wet Okole on the LMM, and except for a tendency to separate at the seat to side seam, they held up great and felt comfortable.

Issues - no one makes replacement seat back foam. Bottoms all day long. If the steamer doesn’t bring it back, then you need to DIY. One company told me to build it up with carpet jute - hmm. Luckily mine came back pretty well after steaming, so I left it alone. The other issue was testing afterwards. My PowerProbe with a 10A power supply was enough for the passenger side, but the driver is wired differently and it would just click no matter which switch was pressed. After fully testing all wiring to no avail, I put my jump box on it and it jumped to life; ugh! TheSeatShop doesn’t use color descriptions that match the window sticker color. I wound up with the wrong color on the first order. Call them on the phone if not sure. I had provided vin and pictures but they didn’t verify before shipping.

Here’s some pix I took:

They are 2006 seats out of a 1500 LT3 into a 2002 LS. I did not retain the factory heating function, because the newer trucks use the BCM for the heated seats. If I want heat it will be aftermarket. But otherwise, all I needed to do was supply 12vdc to Orange and Gnd to black. I made up a harness with a Weatherpack connector so it could be easily disconnected.

It’s a pain in the ass, lol. You manipulate the cover back at the pivot stud to mount, and you’ll find a clip. The wings of the clip are safety retained with an oring. Try not to lose either one. I used a video on YouTube to help me. I’ll find and link it here.

A word on the armrests - gm made them such that they are not able to be refoamed and repaired. The foam and the cover and the structure are all glued together and you’d destroy it trying to take it all apart. So the refurb process is to either replace it or scab on some foam to bring it back to shape and then put on a zippered cover over the whole thing.

I’m bleeding from the wallet. Just hung up with Wet Okole. Front and back and the 08 console and seat covers, as well as both front heat and CCW pouches up front. But in the end it will be comfy for a long long time.
