Got an R in mine. Matter of fact, I think it was the prototype which was dubbed the Mike L special. I know the receipt that Sean has says Goerend R.

I miss the turbo brake of my LMM. Trans is fine. Converter is DK.

When I pulled the vvt off and went standard turbo.. you can play with timing/injection table to help engine braking... No where near as effective as locking the vanes closed at 2500rpm and making ~20-25psi of boost while engine braking

No pictures, but I did get off my ass in this heat and did new trans lines and a PPE bar and plate cooler.

The only hitch was the kit didn’t have fittings for non-OEM radiators, and when I pulled my trans fittings off the rad, I realized that mine isn’t an oem rad. lol. So I had to take a drive this morning to get some metric to JIC Fleece fittings.

The cooler is massive vs that unknown cooler (possible Derail?). I am surprised that they mounted it right up in the dead zone though. I would have thought down low would make more sense. I’m doing a 2hr up and back drive tomorrow, although unloaded, and hope to see an improvement.

I also gave it another blast with my undercoat gun and a gallon of Blaster Surface Shield. It’s a little stinky, but looks and works well :)

Huge improvement! However, one hose failed and leaks at the crimped fitting. Replacement coming.

I bought some of that Blaster shield in aerosol to try on a few things. Seems like it tacks up firmer than Fluid Film but doesn't creep as well in a cavity. I'll probably stick to my LPS #3 for high wash areas

I never used the aerosol, but it is a little thicker than FF. It does creep really well imho, yet stays put quite well. I’ve been happy with it.

I should have. When I swap to the replacement line, I’ll snap pix!

Rudy’s.

I've had the same issue. PPE coolers are something I avoid as their warranty process is garbage.

Now I stick to Fluidyne and Mishomoto. I am working on a Setrab option that will outcool everything on the market (plus a fan option) but it will require my line set.

I was in such a quandary as to what to go with, and the PPE was cheap enough. MikeL and I tried to help Mishimoto create their cooler (my blue LMM is pictured in their instruction guide, lol) but they didn’t care one bit about what they were turning out. Mike was very opinionated on the matter, lol. Temps are great and flow was a terrible, kinda sums it up. I sent their final product to Mike (boy did he rip it anpart on the phone with me, lol. I sure miss his calls!) and I did sell it I without installing it, and I put on a Setrab. This go-round I just gave PPE a shot, lol.

I’m in the Pine Barrens riding dirt right now, and temps towing here were a solid -25* vs before. So as long as it doesn’t leak, I’m cautiously optimistic.

I took advantage of the cold front's cool weather this morning before work :) I've been chasing a groan in my steering that sounds like a goose or a whale humping, haha. Quick tight turns present the noise, like a right hander down a side street, or coming into my driveway, etc. I thought that it was in the column bearings, but I changed both upper and lower already - huge improvements otherwise, but the noise never went away for good.

I've read that this issue has plagued others, so maybe it'll help to say that I (think!) fixed it this morning. I removed the firewall boot that the intermediate shaft travels though. I cleaned the old sticky grease off the shaft, and I lubed the shaft and the tube inside the boot, and installed it to the firewall. A test drive was silent, and the steering was actually feeling more smooth. Time will tell, but I think/hope that I got it licked.

Hopefully this helps someone reading, before they buy a new steering pump or box as they parts-cannon the problem, as I've read in some of my searching.

Quick follow up on the trans hoses. 3 new hoses arrived today. No tag to return the bad hose. Can’t complain about that. Now I need to find time to swap the leaker, lol.

I haven’t done much noteworthy work on the truck in the past couple months. I spent some time with the wastegate but that’s for another time. Caltracs we’re finished today and this weekend I’ll find time to do the power steering pump and cooler.

Calvert is an awesome company! I had a problem and Travis built a replacement bar and had it powder coated and in UPS’ hands the same day! That was Friday and it arrived last night. Impressive!

Sadly I had to send me best wrenching buddy to live with my sister-in-law. She couldn’t get along with one of our existing dogs; two bitches in 1 house - FML. I miss her terribly. I fell fast and hard for that angel.
