Is it possible to adjust the valves when just the top valve cover is removed? Looks as if it might be somewhat difficult. I have done a search but what I seen is mostly with the lower removed also. Anyone got any tips as to the type of feeler gauge needed?
Got about 125K and would like to check the valves.
Thanks

It would be really difficult if not impossible. Unless you have had the rockers apart before you are most likely wasting time adjusting them. If you insist though remove the lower cover.

Need bent 45° feeler gauge.. Can't get a good lash with straight gauge with lower vlv cover one..
Have to pull injector to get lower valve cover off. 2 piece allows valve lash with out pulling injectors

Thanks to everyone. Ferman had told me that removing the complete cover is the way to go but I had to ask anyway.
I may wait until I replace or have the injectors tested. I believe one or more has too much return and like so many full replacement might be the best way.

Good point, I was referring to removal, when I am pulling the heads off.
