I’m cold and disgusted. There’s no way those 1500 rear seats are going in my truck unless I took on some lengthy custom fabrication. Nothing is even close. I read that you can remove the seats and drill/mount them to my frame, but you cannot. The mounting width isn’t even close. The seat bottoms looked like and easy go but no way on the at backs. I decided to cut bait and put the OEM back in again. Maybe if I had an 03+ it would have been ok but not on my 02. Damn.

Final compromise. 1500 seat bottoms and my frame and seat backs. Everything will get a wet Okole cover.

First 2 are 1500 crew rear floor area. Last 2 are a 3500 crew cab rear floor area. See the rise in the floor on the 1500 cab? Thats because of how the rear frame is.1000041898.jpg1000041902.jpg1000041901.jpg1000041900.jpg

Sorry to whore up your thread, but since the info is not readily available, I thought I would document it while junk hunting yesterday.

Hopefully I captured enough so people can see the difference in the floors between a 1500 with the baby bed and a regular 2500/3500 crew cab.

No shit?!? Thanks for that, Brick. When buying a crew cab to replace a rusted-out one, this looks to be very important info.

I may take those pics and create a new thread in Repower to properly document the differences.

I got silly on Black Friday and grabbed a set of RAS heavy duty models to throw in. This worked really well with buddy’s truck when he inherited a rear end for his Lmm that had 1500hd springs. He got a better ride and could still tow heavy after adding these. Since I did the Deaver mini pack, I figured it might be nice to have and to be able to crank up on occasional heavy towing. Installed them with a little less preload than recommended and a trip around town says the truck rides nicer and the sway is further reduced (I have bars).

Many years ago, on a Dakota and a Ranger, I did Super Springs. They have a tapered leaf on rollers, instead of the coil spring on the RAS. I found them to be superior for sway and wheelhop and axle-wrap. However, I can't run them and my Caltracs together, so I went to the RAS. If I didn't have or want to install caltracs, and wanted the best upgrade possible, I'd go SS. That said, these are quite good and they fit! LOL

Good to know. I am considering long bars. Just haven't pulled the trigger.

2 Weeks ago, I Had the tailgate fly open pulling out of a driveway. My engine stand went flying out the back. Minor damage... So time to replace the hardware... Just bought New GM latches and pins.

I need to pull the stupid bags out of the rear first. trying to decide how I want to proceed on the rear suspension. Looks like I can't do the overload like the Long bed trucks.... No place to mount the brackets for it. Looks like the 3500 uses a 5 leaf pack with an Overload. The 2500 just has a 4 Leaf pack.

I'm pretty sure that SuperSprings sells a set that adds 3K lbs of capacity. You could slap them in and then see if you need to add an additional leaf per side after.

I have seen a few different options for add a spring but I thought it was only around 1500 Lb total increase.

I was even considering getting a new set of leafs.

All good.

I am trying to find exactly what i was looking at. It could have been there lesser rated set up. Says its like 2100lbs the other may have been the helwig set up.

Sadly though, it looks like I could just buy different new leaf packs with a higher rating for the same or less....
