Despite my back being thrown out, I powered through and put in a new foam bun on my driver’s seat just now. Marketplace find for $10 on a $140 bun; score!

The springs and wires were good. The metal frame is cracked though. Not going to drag out the welder with this back, so I drilled a hole to stop the crack and epoxied the repair.

After a heating pad break, I’ll try to set the Velcro. Super comfy now! Too bad I can’t find the foam for the back though!

I am shocked. I replaced the upper tilt column bearing, as it was making a little groan noise sometimes. All I can say is WOW. The before and after is night and day.

It’s a total pain in the ass to change, and there’s little help out there on the interwebs. I can say that you’ll need to cut and crack the outer race to remove it, and you’ll need to bend the steering column tool to make it work (I used a Hazard Fraud kit). I also used a dime to shim the bent tool, lol.

Kits are about $75 and worth every penny if you feel even half of the improvement that I did!

Yesterday was disgusting! Heat and humidity was oppressive. I did manage to show the old girl some love though.

New fan clutch - installed in between lightning strikes and downpour. lol.

Deaver minipack j1 installed.

Failed attempt to install caltracs. The ubolts they sent are too short, and the storm was coming in hot and heavy anyway.

A short slow drive in some flash flooding revealed much softer rear manners though. I didn’t want added height, so I installed the mini packs without the two spacers. I will put some better miles on soon to eval a bit more. Hopefully I don’t need bags; I don’t haul really heavy any more. The only regular towing is my 7x16 dual axle enclosed to the dirtbike spot and back each week :)

125mi trip today. Deavers are very nice! Tomorrow I’m hitching up and going riding, so I’ll see how they (light) tow.

The mini pack does good with light loads. Does NOT do good with heavy lol. I tried hauling my 30ft tongue pull toyhauler on them and i had to load the hell out of the distribution hitch to keep it from sagging extremely bad. Wound up going back to an overload leaf. Air bags woulda fixed my issue too

I figured bags would be the next move if they weren’t up to task.

I rather enjoy pulling with my lb7’s. Only thing that sucks is the idiotic unlocked 5-4 downshift and no turbo brake.

When I had my LB7, I think it was an R converter that MikeL put in it. Pulled hard on the 5>4 shift. I think the converter makes a big difference. I had no complaints
