Well got my Cardone box today (PN 978418GB). I can confirm it IS a 6 bolt box with a 3 spline arm and is listed as a brand new (not reman) box.
Interesting that the website says it fits 2002-2006 gas engines, but only 2007 up diesel engines. Assuming that is just poor research on their part?

The lines are slightly different from classic body to newer body styles. But yeah, fitment notes are usually pretty botched on these types of suppliers

As long as the line ends are the same that’s the important part.

Glad that one I found worked out. Will be the next one I put in. Need to do my pump first though. It’s pretty weak.

Just finished putting that new 6 bolt in. Install went pretty good other than attaching the steering shaft to the gear was an absolute chore.

Steering is definitely more sensitive with this gear and feels like 0 slop in the wheel what so ever. Truck turns like a vette now lol, wants to anyway.

Thanks!

Nope. Had it sandblasted Thursday and I sprayed it with SPI Expoxy Primer right after. About 3 coats. I’m not a fan of powder, having done it in the past. Yes it’s durable, but when compromised tends to come off in sheets.
Well it looks great. I did a suburban frame like that in the past with an epoxy Primer. My only regret was that I didn't top coat it with anything.
