So I have a few more things to add to the list. I have a set of rods that I've been planning to use in a build for my single cab LMM at some point. I also have a SoCal 9100 cam that I really wanted to throw in the motor, but I have stock pistons without valve reliefs. I made the decision today to do a quick budget build.

Yaaaaasssss!!! How budget we talkin? Or should I say, what's the build plan for it besides rods and cam?

I already have a pretty decent stash of parts. SoCal valve springs and retainers, arp head studs and main studs, rods, and cam. I'll also be throwing in a set of Mahle motorsports race cast pistons. It will be pretty low buck.

Awesome! Cant wait to see the van in 9's! I think you should do an ice cream theme on the wrap. Go ahead and make it fit the bill. :roflmao:

I'm not sure how realistic 9s are, but it should only take a couple hundred more horsepower than it took to run the 10.8. I doubt it will do it the first race I take it out.

I wondered why I wasn't seeing your van in the last several events at Ennis . Moving the motor and trans back 7" should make a considerable difference in transferring the weight to the rear tires on launch . Typically gassers move the motor and trans back 3---4"s. Look forward to seeing your van back in action .

I got a little more done today. I built the pedestal for the turbo so I can send it to Rick to have some pipes made for it. Here's a pick of where it ended up.

The headers are done. The pedestal and pipes still need to be finished. They shouldn't take too long. TJ and Rick are doing a great job!

So after the grueling week of thrashing on the Dumpster to get it to the race, we were successful in making it to the track with a running and driving race van, but we were not successful in making a good pass. In our rush, I thought I could get by without taking the time to install the MAF sensor in the intake pipe which caused a fueling issue I wasn't able to get tuned out at the track, but the bigger problem was the front end was extremely unhappy. I don't know if it was the shifted weight to the rear or what, but it had the most extreme death wobble I've ever seen in an IFS vehicle. At 50 mph, I thought the front tires were going to fall off. Regardless of all that, I still consider it a victory since less than a month before the race, it was just an idea to get it ready to go. I couldn't have made it there without the help of Guy and his crew at SoCal Diesel or Rick and TJ Lance at ProFab performance. These are two companies who exemplify the best aspects of the diesel performance industry, and I am proud that they could be a part of this project. We will address the problems we found and do some things we weren't able to finish before the race and have it back out there this spring. I'm excited about what we can do. Here are a few pictures of the build I don't think I ever posted here. I'm very pleased with how everything turned out.

That's actually just a hole there now. The new intake is behind that and to the left (right as you're looking at it in the picture).

That would be cool. They actually did make special decals though. There is a left and right decal so the truck is going forward on both sides of the van.

Thank you for all your help, Rick! The headers and pedestal fit perfect and look even better!

So I'm sure most of you already saw the results of my trip to the dyno last weekend. That really got me excited about the Dumpster again. I'm looking forward to getting it back on the track. Before the dyno, I went ahead and swapped it over to a pickup operating system (which required just a little bit of wiring) and installed a DSP5 switch which I hooked up to my trans brake to work as a two step when the brake is on. I'm pretty excited about using it. I also ordered all the parts I need for the front end so I can hopefully fix my death wobble problems I had af the finals last year. I'm hoping to have it all done and aligned for a trip to the track for some test and tune on the 18th. Hopefully I can get kicked off the track. :thumb:

I think it would be hilarious to call S&W or Alstons and ask if they offer a cage kit for a 2006 Chevy van.

can you add a few more degrees of caster (or as much as the stock arms give without making camber too horrible) when you take it in? it will help stability at speed and lessen any other chance of death wobble.
