Ferm should be chiming in. I think he recommends all lb7’s change to the 6006 OS, which can be downloaded and flashed in.

As stated in other posts. If you want to change the OS you will need to full flash it with a GM Tech2 or an EFILive V2. You do not need to put the truck back to stock calibration to retune the truck. If you got an autocal or V2 you could flash over with is in there UNLESS the ECM is locked via a custom key. If it is locked with a custom key it may take some time to crack and only a V2 can do that when hooked up to a PC.

I recommend all 01/02 run the 6006(unless running an edge), 03-05 MUST use the stock base file. I would not put a tech 2 on it to flash it if it were mine, way to many corrupted lb7 ecm's from tech2 flashes(grant it 01 was the worst, but 02-04 are still fickle creatures. If it's locked you'll want a bench harness and flash it with a V2, and you can load it with a full flash iirc of your choosing. Just make sure it isn't corrupted 1st.

Oh, thanks for the correction. Sorry to spread bad info! Out of curiosity though... I full flashed an 04 with 6006 OS. Should I pull that out?

Have you had trouble with the edge monitors with a 6006 file? Buddy with an 01 that we used a 6006 file for the dsp5 base has the cts2 monitor and the fuel level / boost do some weird stuff. We kind of chalked it up to being the monitor as it was doing funny stuff (not fuel/boost) when it had the factory base file even

The problems I believe were with operating system mapping and dsp5 switching via the edge

I would. I only use the stock base file for 03-05 trucks so things like the oil pressure gauge work properly, cruise, power windows, and ac.

Thanks - the oil pressure gauge was the only problem in this truck's case, but it didn't work before the flash either, HAHA. I'll correct my mistake. Thank you.:hail2:
