Not sure I understood what you just said... You say the new style clutch is worse than the original style?

Extremely better than stock at ~1/2 the cost of new stocker

Basically long winded say after 140,000 mile of working it ass off keeping my truck cool while towing 20-25,000lb trailer... Its starting to die

Thank ya, I'm going to check the local part store to see if they offer it. I've got a customers lmm I would like to try one on. It has the "heavy duty" fan clutch option, but he tows like you do so we try to help it all we can.

Well at the parts store they offer a factory replacement and a "heavy duty" replacement option.

Was going to see if it happened to be the same part # as the Kodak..

I have the 2886 fan coming Adam posted about. Just in time for our trip up north in two weeks and 112* days we are having

Well good to know my temps are bothering me since I've been in AZ. 113 today on the I10 I was sitting in traffic over 200* on trans and coolant and 230 on oil

Btw 58* ac temp isn't really that cold, a properly working system should be in the mid 40's especially at 80* ambient air temp

It had plenty of power it was just so heat soaked and poor ac performance. But then again my ac sucks I never used it much before so its probably low.

I've seen 30-35° drops when fan was good.. Right now its only while rolling does it get that far..
~25°. Drop on a Regular cab can get pretty cold quickly
When I filled it I put put 2 14oz cans and a 1/2 filled 12oz can in after a vacuum draw high side pressure was 225-250 on a 90° day..
Normally condenser puts off enough heat yo engage the fan at idle... Fans not engaging normally.. Hence why I say its dieing;)

I'm hoping another fan clutch option becomes available here soon. I know theres a company developing an electric fan clutch. He is developing it for the 6.5 that is known to overheat, but said he will also build one for the late model which used a fan clutch exactly like the lb7 and lly did. It would be an on off design which be well suited for performance, but not sure how well it would work for high rpms while towing. His current proto type is for a bolt on fan clutch, still waiting for a spin on one to get dimensions of.

That 58° air temp vent in 81° ambient temp picture was direct mainly towards you James :D

i know, im choosing to ignore it lol :angel:. never thrown one in mine to see what shes blowing in the heat. last few times i had to recharge it from opening up the system it was done in 90* heat at night so vent temps were somewhere around 60-65* at 2k before the fan kicked in. watching your EGTs go up 100* just from having a/c on sucks though... hopefully the fan cures some of that.

Looks like the direct swap part numbers for the severe duty hayden is 2843 for the lb7/lly and 2850 for lbz/lmm about 140.00 at the parts here

I ordered the 2843 for my LB7, I'll see if that fixes the AC issues this weekend.

I stuck an aux. engine oil and upgraded trans cooler in front of the condenser, and now my AC doesn't work for crap. (Wasn't thinking about it...) If not, I get to rearrange my cooling setup :eek:

Why I stuck my aux oil cooler elsewhere.. I didn't want to add that heat to the cooling stack
