Snapped the shock mount!

1hr from home with no tools. I improvised the lug nut wrench and a Leatherman to get the shock off the upper mount and get home.

Obviously I didn’t put the caltracs on yet. Lol

I guess I’ll have to grab a new mount and cut/weld. I hope the shock is ok. It seems to have some very minor scraping on the bottom of the lower mounting eye.

The weld held to the axle tube.

A crappy ending to a good day’s black powder shooting. 5hr round trip. Glad it happened on the way home :)

Cleaning the flintlock in the dark. Summer is passing :(

Something tells me that extra leverage from that bracket isn't good for the stock mount

Without it, the shock is almost horizontal and useless (installed drop shackles).

It gets worse. Apparently, I moved the axle and the other shock mount is being ripped off the axle and is a little twisted.

XDP says I ordered their last mount. Gotta check turn 14 etc. Ugh.

I also need a larger head on the center bolt. The one that Deaver sent barely makes it into the perch, when I’m running the axle shim, and let the axle move.

Yes, Sir. I was just looking at McMaster-Carr for 10mm socket head cap screws. I think it’s a c-hair oversized. I can turn it down for a good fit.

I believe I had to grind a little off the head of the bolts I used

What did you buy, the Longhorn fab 201108 lower shock mount ?

Check with the Dmax store

Correct.

Dmax is in CA and I’m in NJ. I called Long horn yesterday (Ohio) and their answering machine said to email for faster reply. So I did to see if they were in stock and shipping. No reply. I just went to call now and they are closed until Tuesday. Ugh.

I’d planned to call them back, but was out in the Pine Barrens longer than expected yesterday, when my buddy went swimming. Hahaha. I had to help him out and get the bike running again :). I did both ?

I’m in NJ. DMAX Store is in CA - which means longer shipping to me.

Longhorn just emailed me. In stock and shipping. Says XDP should have had them drop ship when I asked on Wednesday. So I ordered 2x from Longhorn just now.

Original order from XDP is still sitting delayed at UPS in Las Vegas. We will see what arrives first! lol

Oh, I miss read that. Thought you were on a trip in CA. My apologies. Was going to offer a complete rear end to get you mobile again.

Probably get long horn delivery first. I believe dmax store moved to Reno side after C.A.R.B fined them. They have a location still in CA but I think everything else moved out of state.
