You know with a little fab work and alot of body work we may be able to pull this off. We can try it on your truck first;)
Nah, I usually don't speed. I don't even have a radar detector. Maybe Kurt would be interested though... :book:

your radar detector only works if the cop is lazy and leaves it running wide open all the time, like Nick said. If the cop driving passed you has his radar off, and then clicks it on as soon as he sees you, your fanchy shmancy radar detector isnt gonna do crap, I dont care how "good" it is. By the time it goes off, the cop already knows your exact speed...

Usually radar detectors are decent on the highway when there are a bunch of other cars on the road, the cop will most likely leave it on constantly, and your radar detector will sometimes pick it up before he has you in sight and a good signal on your specific vehicle. In that instance, yes, the radar detector does do its job....

how many cars do you have?

None of your business Ben.:D:joker:
On your other post about detectors; there is a federal law on what these companys can sell legaly.
I have friends who do radar for the US Air Force and can do phenominal thngs like show 25 mph when they are doing 200mph. problem is you will get pulled over anyways and have your truck impounded and maybe confiscated and thrown in prison.

X2!!

I've thought of that. I've been thinking of a system to stick a gps on every cop in town, then all sequence in a plotter in your truck, then YOU will know where their at. :D

Ben's got the inside scoop since he did a bunch of ride alongs with me and has seen it first hand how and why it works.

Bottom line is that if you wanna speed, do it when its raining. RADAR works like pure trash when its raining. Its like shining a flashlight through a bottle of water. It distorts the beam, scattering it all over so its nearly impossible to get an accurate reading. The RADAR is hitting each and every single drop of rain in the air and it goes in a million different directions. RADAR will track you in the rain, but not accurately so its a win win for those who want to haul ass.

So now, what do I get for letting our little secret out? A gold star perhaps?

That's when a lot of the old guys fire up the old x-band radar. It works better in foul weather then K or Ka band, but is slower and easier to detect. Nobody hardly uses it anymore because of this.

You guys are forgetting one thing. That cop isn't just looking for you. He is popping other vehicles as well. So that one second pop he gives looking for speeders ahead of you still throws out a radar signal, and chances are, your radar detector will pick it up. It may just be a quick blip, but if you know your detector well enough, you should be able to pick it up and have time to hit the brakes. This has saved my ass many times!! He may be around the next corner or over the next hill, or a mile away, but if your paying attention, with a good detector, you will pick it up!!

Laser is the only thing that you have little to no chance with. Unless you have a scrambler-which is illegal in Canada. THe best defence for that is to put one of them old fabric bra's on your sports car. It absorbs some of the signal so the radar has a hard time getting you. Or red vehicles can also be more difficult to pick up from farther distances away thn say a white one.

Oh and I use the Escort 8500 Passport. I had an X-50 that was blue and it was a POS. Then do to a warranty shipping F-up I ended up with the red 8500. Works good so far.
