LLY: Gear lube

What's the best gear lube to use in the rear axle of a 2005 Silverado 2500 Lt lly duramax Allison. 4x4 crew cab long bed.
This truck has 210000 miles and tows a 40 landmark Rushmore fifth wheel, alot

Moved to Fluids and Maintenance. Valvoline 75w90 is what I use in my truck.

Royal purple 75-140, it's free and keeps the diff parts stuck together.

Last fill up I put cheap 80-90 in it and the locker worked a lot better for a while but I think it spit some pieces out finally.

Most any name brand synthetic 75w90 should do just fine.

Valvoline 75w90 here as well. My dad used it 30 years ago in his race cars, and I still use it today with no problems.

The only 80w90 I know of is walmarts supertech. Not that stuff was it?

80/90 makes bad noises in the differentials fyi, do not use it. When I worked for Toyota a guy put 80/90 in a trade in truck and it sounded really bad almost like a bad gear mesh pattern

I've had it in my truck for 15k miles now and not a peep out of it.

And FYI you can run any shit oil you want as long as you use a friction modifier for the clutch packs. My explorer binds up and grinds with ANY oil, but as soon as I dump some trans-x in it, it's silent in 1-3 miles.

No, stuff from the rig, we was running 75-90 synthetic in everything there until the down turn, now we run some no name 80-90, and some no name 15w-40 I wouldn't run in an oil stove.

I put it in mine because my clutches weren't biting, I knew that regular old oil would do the trick, and it did for a while. But my truck has 35's, a decent tune and weighs 8700 lbs so the rear end always gets a work out.
