I wish they had machined recesses or space in the piston or head to actually try it 😖

That would never work. The heat of combustion would kill the springs. Amateurs.

Only problem with it is the increased complexity. I've had to add a bunch of sealing rings on the pistons to try and keep the air in. Even with them it still leaks so I have a blower attached to the intake to keep pushing air in to replace the air that leaks out 😂

Should probably piggy back some opposing magnets on the head and piston and really bump up those horse torques

I did some work for a certain agency with 3 letters, back many years ago. I can’t go into specifics, but we paid off a security guard from Disney to open a vault from 1961. We acquired and applied flubber to the center of the pistons and allowed them to gently contact the heads, in between the valves. The hardest part was controlling a runaway situation because the rpm wanted to increase like mad as the flubber created almost a perpetual motion action.
