I am looking at tuning a 2001 DT466 International, it is mated with a 3000 series Allison. From a little looking it sounds like Diablo makes a pretty good programmer for them increasing Hp 30% is what it is claiming. The truck is turned to 250hp right now.

My main question is does anyone know what the 3000 series Allison will handle?? What is the torque rating? 30% of 250 is roughly 80hp whether its claiming those numbers off the 250hp rated motors or the lower powered 466's I don't know. I am little worried I don't want to stick the programmer in and toast the tranny the first time out.

Thanks

Which ALLISON 3000 series is it? I believe there is 3 or 4 of them and they each have a different torque rating. I want to say they are rated for about 300-325HP and 800 foot pounds of torque for the motorhome version, but that is the close ratio unit whereas many HD trucks got the wide ratio. I believe a retarder also plays a role in its torque rating. I believe my grandfathers motorhome has a 3560 in it with an 8.3L 12 valve CUMMINS behind it at 300 HP, and currently has a150K miles or so on it without a single hiccup.

Hmm sh!t I didn't even know there were different series of the 3000:eek: It is a 5 speed and the truck is geared really low, top speed is 65mph. There any way to tell what series it is by looking??

Thanks

Okay talked to the owner of the truck he thinks the Allison is a 3060P... does that sound right? He was told that it was the more common heavier duty tranny??

What is the truck this combination in?

because most in 2001 had 2000 series in it that came with the 466.
also does it have air brakes or manual parking brakes?

4900 International, Tandam. Pretty sure it has air brakes. Not exactly sure what the truck was originally for, but it got a 18' box put on it and is used as a farm truck now mainly used for a silage truck.

Thanks for the help guys

If it doesnt look like the allison in your duramax, its an md3060.

2000-series allisons look identical (with the exception of the bellhousing in some applications) to the allison 1000 in the GM pickups.
