Yes. The current design splits the flow.

And as I understand it, the gear pump on the rear pressurizes the body. So, the only practical way I can see maintaining the same flow through the body is to pull the fuel from the body by drilling and taping thread and installing a fitting.

If you look at the picture in post #9, that feed passage for the FCA is blocked with the use of the bypass. So you want to make a new one

Here is a diagram I posted up on TDIClub when we were discussing ideas for this problem. This picture shows how the bypass works. Disregard the "oil from engine" part

Is there a practical place to drill the case that won’t compromise it’s strength? If so that would be a better, cheaper and easier way to do it. Just a simple drill and then tap for either NPT or ORB fitting would be simple. Worst part would be the required disassembly of the pump.

The main problem with drilling and tapping is being able to find a place to do it without having to pull the pump. If the pump has to be removed, might as well convert it to a cp3.

Ya it’s not easy to do. But pulling it to do this could still be cheaper than doing a cp3 swap depending on the cost for making the bypass. It’s at best around $600 for the cp3 kit and about $1600+ for a kit and reman pump.

Possibly even easier and cheaper for a consumer if doing it as a retail thing using an exchange/core program.

In the long run it may be a wash depending on what the machining and material cost is for the bypass. But one has to keep in mind this could be attractive to those not wanting to tune their trucks.

I currently fit this category but I have warranty still so it’s not realistic for me to do it yet. But I know a few guys that would be interested in doing this to save their own dime in trucks they have no interest in deleting or tuning.

From looking at the pump I have that doesn't have a gear pump on the rear it seems there are two practical locations to tap on the body.

One, just under and to left of the relief valve and the other at the bottom of the pump. Not sure if any of those could be utilized within the confines of the engine bay

Maybe a third location between the other two. This on would angle the fitting but might allow for more clearance if needed. This area if probably 3/8-1/2" thick so more material for threads. The other locations are maybe 1/4" thick

Give us a bit and I believe we can make this work without drilling the pump or removing the pump.

It would be a pinch if you just used an axillary pump like VW. Just tap of the fuel feed line, through the axillary pump, filter then to the FCA bypass

I am curious if there is any update on this bypass kit?
I have the Exergy MPROP installed now but would feel more comfortable with this kit.

Version 2 has been on and running for a couple of weeks now on my 2013. Functions without a lift pump for use on a bone stock pickup but a lift pump is recommended to get the most value. We will be making a few adjustments to the mounting and hose routing before releasing.

Same here. I am in the process of rebuilding my truck after a collision. I currently have the cab off the frame so engine access is very easy at this point. I'm holding off on doing the CP3 conversion but would like to try this approach if it is available before my truck goes back together.

I have seen the prototype in action. I know Richard is busy with his full time job, but he is still working on getting a fully tested product to market.
