Okay for the 02 lb7’s im sick of replacing my coolant reservoir. Does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade it to a newer year where there is just a replacable coolant level sensor?
I show the same part number for 2001 - 2007 Classic. The 2007.5+ part doesn't look like it would fit without a lot of work, and I am not sure it has a replaceable sensor either.
I've never heard of the sensor failing before. Have you had more than one fail? Are these OEM ACDelco tanks, or 3rd party replacements?
If you don't want to replace your tank, you could just unplug the sensor. (Might have to short the pins, the wiring diagram isn't clear if open or shorted means low.)
Not to concern you, but if it reads low intermittently without actually being low, especially right after heavy throttle, you might have a bad head gasket pushing air through the tank, and that is tripping the sensor. This is often accompanied by slow (or rapid) loss of coolant, and/or poor heater performance at idle.
X2, this might not be a coolant sensor problem at all.Check all of your ground straps
