Ive got a set of 243s in the garage.
You're up around Lansing Michigan area right?
Just mill some 243/799’s throw in a truck cam from BTR with some flex fuel injectors and that 408 will rip and make more torque than a stock lb7. lol
Realistically, I'll probably nerd out on the various OEM options for a few months.. lol

I should probably go through the transmission as well with the amount of miles that are on it

Edit between 317/241/799/706
the 317 are #2 on the list in flow, downside is the 317 has a large combustion chamber, which I can easily accommodate with new pistons
On the mid lift the 317 out preform the others. They Should support 480-500hp in stock form...might need more compression than the 10:1 I'm running to hit those numbers

I find this hard to be water still in the exhaust. I’m stumped. Truck runs fine and there’s no smoke. And we took the turbo out not to long ago and no wetness there.

If I was to get heads I'd get some AFR LS1 mongoose 205cc or something comparable. Highly unlikely I'll get anything aftermarket. I'll trade 5k RPM above power for better 2-4k rpm power on a heavy daily vehicle
It was more rough reference point

As for cam stock on my truck is 197/207° and .467"/.497" 116lsa Going to a 212/218° and 558"/563" and 115 LSA which is a failure decent jump, of I go bigger I'll loose too much low end even with the extra displacement and crank stroke
I would get a bigger set of heads... a 408 needs to breathe. I have a custom 1 off set of AFR 205s with a smaller intake valve for a 5.3L that almost flow 300 CFM. We specifically used the 205 casting because of the bore size and the small combustion chamber. Mine are 61cc but it's not 87 octane freindly combo. Unfortunately the motor cost more than the truck and for that reason alone I won't install it and drive it on the street. I know it will make an easy 500HP on the dyno.

As for the cam, the larger displacement will usually eat up some of the bigger cams since they require more air flow to feed them.

If I install 1.8 rockers puts valve lift at ~.580-.600" which is ~243cfm with 317s, yes heads/cam are choke point.

If the engine was going to spend more time between 4-6000+rpm than 2-4000rpm, I promise you, I'd be building it differently 😉 I'd be looking at 230-250cc heads if I want a big RPM motor, but that would cost me a lot of efficiency at 2-3000rpm

Frame is very clean for an Ohio truck truck, body rockers and behind rear tires are going...isn't worth anything really to anyone but me together,

Buddy asked how attached I am to my suburban, i like it.. but I've got no problem put it to pasture and getting another..
Started float FB marketplace place found a 01 2500 6.0 4*4 twin to mine with 234k same color with sunroof for ~3k.
Found a late 80s c20 burb with 6.2 diesel/700r4 converted a dually rear. Lol

Searching 96-06 2500 burbs. The 90s trucks prefer the 454, put cam, intake, 0411 swap full exhaust, and I can get upper teens out of easy
This is my current one. Joys of long gravel driveway and spring rain 😂
Seen trucks with 1/3 the mileage looks substantially worse.
