Im very surprised you didnt know that about corrosion on the ground at the DS body mount causing issues. Those engine grounds are smaller wires within the harness, attached on the bottom of the block on either side of the black plastic harness protector found under the balancer area.

hello. finally got an update today. the "shop" got the engine running and body control module.communicating. yeh! BUT, they said the transmission control module and one other module, maybe transfer case weren't communicating. im sure that the body mount ground was what fixed it not communicating and blew the body module. my research kinda says no ground might. could 3 modules stop communicating at the same time? I really appreciate any and all help!!! rob

ok, got my truck bak last Friday, October 10, 2025 and the bill was $2512.60. they replaced the

1. body control module BCM
2. engine control module ECM
3. power control module module PCM
4. transmission control module TCM
5. transfercase encoder motor

12 hours labor

they lay blame on the ONSTAR module. said once the ONSTAR module was removed the buss line did the voltage on buss line return to normal
and only then communication was started to find other failed modules

got in the truck Friday paying bill, I was kinda ok with bill, and drivers seat wouldn't move any way but could see and hear seat motor try. went back inside and they took seat out, tested motor and said seat encoder was bad. passenger seat works fine.

is it possible that all these modules went bad after batteries went bad from grounds and which ground could have possible done the damage. im thinking the body ground under drivers door.

im ok will work done cause that's one of the few shops here and have good reputation. just wondering for myself.

thanks very much for the replies!!! rob

If all those modules where really bad, would seem more like it got hit with lightning then anything else

our home got not directly hit but close lightning knocked out the gas stove electronic keypad, gas valve for the stove, tv go haywire but finally figured it out and had to return to default setting numerous times. and we have an outdoor antenna with a booster and took out part on antenna and plug-in part in house. could never find the strike area my wife is later on in next couple days check receipts as to when antenna was replaced as that was 4 days after lightning strike.

2004lb7 thanks so much for the suggestion. if you are correct that clears up a lot of mysteries. ill keep ya'll informed!!!

I dont think anyone would have had "lightning strike wiped out every module in a truck" in their diagnostic tree.

from what my wife and I have come up with is its very possible the truck could have been driven to that spot when I started having all the trouble with the truck near the end of June. the lightening strike we figured was June 28, 2025. its possible but is it probable?

I got the truck back last Monday oct 20th and everything works and drives good. before all this happened with the lightening my abs light would come on and you drive it a bit and start, cycle it a few times and abs light goes out until truck sits for few days. did this fir 5-6 years. assumed wheel sensor. couldn't remember if check engine light was on also but maybe and told THE SHOP abs and engine light did stay on. picked truck up expecting both lights to go off and they never did.

yesterday morning I had orielly's auto parts to scan obd11 port and they said the the ABS and FICM module lost communication with both modules. my question is why is my truck still running fine with no communication with FICM.?

FICM will continue to do it's thing regardless of CANBus or not. It only needs the injector on signals, crank signal and power to run.

well members I finally got my radio installed and truck runs fine. my insurance took care of a lot of the bill but a couple of things like the FICM and the seat control module cause I didn't want to make the repair price too high. might total it. thanks for all the replies and help.

hope I can put this here, but a bought a TECH2 clone off of eBay. my PASSLOCK isn't working. I have watched a ton of videos and searched but is there someplace I can find that tells if you have to have an older windows computer with WIN XP SP3 to load TIS2000 ?? I have a MacBook Pro running sequoia and dont think that will work. thanks for any help or references. rob
