What are you running for timing when you stab the throttle and it smokes a lot with that short delay you described? Maybe add a degree or twoI hope that I did this right

*Stock is not my orig IHI. It's a cheap Chinese stock replacement turbo and comes with a 10blade compressor wheel. I think P/P stock IHI 11 blade should perform better in this spool test.
Standing 0-20psi: Not enough resolution in EFI Live to stop the log at 20psi. I stopped at 21.3psi. and 2.4 seconds elapsed. If I log to the prior frame, it's 18.2psi and happened in 2.2. Call it standing 0-20psi 2.3sec?
Crazy thing is that for .445secs the truck did nothing. I was in 4wd stopped and facing uphill and just floored it - no easing in. It belched a huge black cloud and after that 1/2 a sec it took off slowly but then just RIPPED! LOL. Maybe I could have done better without a throttle mash?
1500rpm locked in 5th. 0 to 22.2psi = 2.8 sec. 0-19.7psi was 2.7sec. I am posting both to be fair. Call it rolling 0-20psi 2.75sec?
I could have used a little more initial throttle but overall I think I got this one pretty good.
Recent dialing in of the wastegate made this SO much better than it would have been a few months ago, LOL.
The 20deg temp swing is doing more here than anything.I'm going through the data and in every comparison that I am able to make with the data from last year, the cast wheel outperforms. I'm going to try again when it's 45* out, and then see what the numbers look like. It'll be a few months, lol.
Personally, I think single plane wheels are the GOAT for compound turbos that don't get pushed very hard (IE this scenario). They're in a higher efficiency zone on the compressor map compared to dual plane wheels.I'll give it a chance until temps drop and I can re-eval. Since it's a compound setup, the shaft speed tops out pretty low though, so I'm not sure if its a keeper. Never trust the butt dyno though, I was surprised by the results.
