I did a a search before posting and couldn't find anything on the subject.

I have an 06 LLY with 75k on the clock and need to do a cooling system service as well as change both thermostats. I know the truck came from the factory with Dexcool but I read somewhere where Dexcool is not really made for diesel engines. What coolant should I use?

I knew about there being no drain plug on the rad but I thought I read on here in the tech section that there is one on the drivers side of the engine.

That plug will still blow coolant in ten different directions when you open it. If you happen to have one of your I/C pipes off, use that over the drain to funnel the coolant into your pail.

Mix it 50/50. I use two gallons of coolant but I am in Florida. Should still be good in colder climates though.

Well I'm in Texas so I will be mixing 50/50.

So I need 2 gal straight coolant and mix it with 2 gal water.

I got a little 3x5 pan so I'm hoping to catch most of it lol.

I've always been kinda leery of dexcool also. But being the first diesel I've worked on I wasn't sure on type of coolant. I'd like to just put green in it cuz that's what's in the rest of my cars/trucks.
