1) Isn't that the norm, a person ( Rick ) designs a part, tests it, re-designs, tests, finalizes, sells the parts he builds.

2) Company "A" wants to sell those parts under their name, an agreement is reached.

3) Another company "B" decides to "go into business" with company "A" and cut the legs out of the original designer/company ( Rick ) so they can make more $$$

4) Designer ( Rick ) gets the shaft, Company "A" is now a scumbag R-ob and D-uplicate company and is now in business with a new "partner", company "B", who will probably have a short business relationship as well.

5) Isn't that the whole business model of company "A", to just re-sell other peoples ideas/parts for a profit and then look for ways to cut everyone else out ??




He never made good on his "rods"........at least that is what I was told.

Can't say for sure how he got his tunes, however he has some posts that he will always "take a look" at " someone else's " tune to try to help "fix" it.
He is so helpful in that regard.

I don't know everyone elses story on this but I had a set of his rods and we got it worked out. Was it the best situation no but he made it right with me at least.

PPE dual kits

I have run there kit from when my truck was new. I have never had problem with there kit. It fit fine and has never been a problem. I have had problems with a few belts at the Super Stock race in the spring but the truck was flairing shifts over 5k. I also needed a few things when I went with a none vvt turbo and they shipped what I need out with no problems. In my eyes they have done well with me. Now if that's how it went down with Rick then that's not cool at all! It sucks to be a little guy in this market when things like that happen. I had the pleasure of meeting Rick in 09 at Indy and seemed like a cool guy. When I call PPE they always seemed to be helpful when I order parts and if they (Doug) don't know something he always finds out and calls me back. I have $20 on Eric!!!! Surprised to think its possible, eh? So am I. Id always considered PPE to be a promoter of diesel performance in the past. Ran their Hot+2 and was happy with it.
Always felt they acted as a "consignment shop" that helped people/small companies promote and sell their parts, albeit with the caveat that PPE puts their name on the parts.
Could it be that was all just a ruse in order to evntually "R&D" the parts/ideas for themselves?? Man, thats just bullshit.
If a decent guy like Rick gets screwed over I sure as hell wont stand idly by and stay silent. If someone asks my opinion, I wont recommend PPE any more, let alone consider buying their parts.

There's a lot of you guys that are privy to more info than I am I guess. Cant say his tunes were similar to PPE simply because of how they both ran in my truck. PPE was less refined on the street and ran slower at the track with the same truck setup. Thats the extent of my knowledge on the subject.
The rods? Well, there were questions about his material selection and machining/heat treating that were ignored in the beginning. Some people still took the risk and sadly paid for it. You could say the same for a lot of early Dmax performance parts and the shops that installed them and the guys who blew their life savings on builds and rebuilds. Guess if nobody took the initial risks then we wouldnt know which parts work and which ones dont, let alone where we'd be today.

I used to love PPE, ran their tuners for years, ran 2 of their install kits, both of them which were on for less than a year, both pedestals had to be repaired, one buy an actual machine shop. PPE got a call on both, think they cared? Nope. Thier twin kit i spent good money on.... a joke compared to others for much cheaper. Took me a lot more money to complete and fix that half assed thing they called a kit. I was also not told that my twin turbo "do it yourself kit" was going to be used on top of that! That was the end of the line for me... Now i see they are coping ricks products and cutting throats... i wouldnt wipe my a$$ with a ppe shirt if i was out of toilet paper. Rick will do fine, his products speak for themselves, and so does his customer service. Im just glad theres people like Rick, Trent, and lots of other "small time" shops making better products, for a better price, for the "real" duramax enthusiest. Their the ones that bring duramax performance to the next level.... not PPE.

Oh yea... you know how many times i heard dan was gonna "make it right" for all the missing parts in my twin cobbled up mess?? Guess what... never made anything right. Yeah, bringing duramax performance to another level alright.

I knew of ben's failure when I purchased my rods, nick was the one that told me about it. I still purchased them, ran them for about 500 miles then, we decided to swap them out. Nick was the one that called me and said we should get them out.

thats funny about wiping your ass with a ppe shirt, that reminded me... when i was at the nhdra race here in charlotte this year when i signed up the women asked me if i had any of the followin products on my truck, i looked at the list and saw ppe. she said well if you want to run one of their stickers you could win 100 dollars or something like that. i looked her in the eyes and said " if you were paying out 1000 dolalrs i wouldnt run that shit on my truck". the look on her face was priceless.

and as for rick, he has first class customer service, i use him for everything i can here at the shop. its too bad ppe shit on him too, but people are starting to see the real side of ppe. good job dan!:thumb:

Ive never been into stereos, but where i come from, if you try and screw a performance shop, it blows up in your face everytime.

Funny how it was "definitely assembly error" (on my part) until 4 other trucks dropped dead. You must have purchased them after the other failures occured.

Is it true that PPE now makes their own manifolds after buying ricks and reselling them for years?? None the less he has that market wrapped up, his knowledge when building headers, and desigining manifolds is second to none, cant beat his experience and customer service.

Ask Ricky Bobby about my phone bill, back when he was starting to make those silly tube headers. And where he got his additional "input" from. You wouldn't believe it if you saw it with your own eyes.

Heck, he didn't even know what the inside of the factory pieces measured. He thought the driver's side was actually smaller, and that you could do a correct length tube header.

As far as Ricky's customer service? IMO it blows. He's freakin' useless if you're a racer. Flaky and unreliable would be charitable.
