Thinking of starting a national campaign to "Bag Flock Safety" cameras. Been following this private corp mass surveillance trend for a while. Not only are they cloud storing all the captured data, but anyone with a cell phone can log into these units on site and download the last week of captures. So this new security tool, is actually a huge data gathering scheme with no over-site or even decently secured hardware. It's been hacked, reversed, disassembled, and fully mapped. Some shady shit..
I see cases are popping up now where people are ripping them down by the dozens. And that has some legal issue, destroying private property. While I'll happily explain how everyone could save time by just hitting each ya see with high power pin laser to burn out the cameras... I'm think a simpler less risky solution is just trash bag or sticker every unit ya see. No damage, just puts out of service.
Personally I'm going bigger on this one and perusing it in the OH courts at class level. But setting here in a parking lot, look at one of their cameras on a pole, what's gonna happen if I just go stick a wal-mart bag over it?? They gonna need pay someone to come remove it. I can dig this game..

Not sure how your bank is, but I set up a free ($5 min balance or you get charged) checking account with my bank. Then I just use the app to transfer from my main account to make purchases in seeding places. No paying to load prepaid cards.

Ben was first one that alerted me also. The IT engineer side of me would like to molest one in a SCIF room for a few hours also. And then hang it back in the wild just to see if they even notice the breach. From my latest readings, it's the lack of security, hardware and on servers that's getting them booted from Cali cities. I had never seen a flock camera before, but according to that map, the meijers we go to has them all thru their parking lot. Its those blue lighted trailer things that look like the "rape" lights out at MSU. Considering the number of lowlifes and bums that panhandle in that parking lot against meijer rules, I can understand why meijers put them up.
Flock units are typically small pole mounted fixed position with solar panel on top. The blue light specials are someone else I think.
Flock is primarily a license plate reader deal that captures tags and logs location, time, and who owns the vehicle. And typically located on state property. My issue #1.
The blue light cameras are city or private owned/rented, and record everything going on. So new door ding while shopping, you can demand footage from the store owner and find the culprit. Flock is gonna tell ya to pound sand. Unless ya sign a contract for service...

No, those are likely put up by the city or county. They're the same kind of camera you see mounted to police cruisers.

The flock website sure does suggest that those are their cameras. 3 on one traffic light and 2 on the other.

Those might be a Flock deal. Scan the WIFI on your phone while at the light. See if any related SSID pops up.
I may have customer of theirs with similar readers on a toll bridge in small claims right now. Firm in MI brought a class action against this same company over toll billing practices up there. I just summited my first request for admissions here. Who's equipment, and how did you obtain my cell and personal contact details be top of my list. Thing is, Flock actually has a solo camera on far end of that same bridge and noted in map above. And it's Privately owned bridge. So my money is on same data broker both ends.
Maybe I'll turn my paralegal loose on Flock this weekend. Co counsel "Fable" shredded a four layer LLC corporate shield in about 8 minutes. Exposed the core CA private equity firm, and mapped everyone involved from formation to present at a very high level. But whenever I ask him to help hack some automotive hardware, dang tool says it's safeguarded cause it might accidentally destroy the world... Has no issues destroying $700 hour attorneys for a few pennies.
This AI trend might not turn out to bad after all...

Where? I looked and didn't see anything like those. I do know a bunch of those were put up in my area as part of a county initiative.
Either way, flock needs to flock off into oblivion.
There was a deal here around Cleveland where the city council voted to get rid of the flock cameras initially, but the council president (probably under a bribe) decided flock needed another chance to make their case. And now the cameras are staying...
Those little black things are the ALPR’s. Whether city or county, I believe they can be publicly accessed. That site I posted has a bunch of info on each camera, but I question the validity of it as the Lowe’s shopping center by my house has 5 of the portable cameras with the lights that strobe. That site shows them as flock cameras (I think) but says they are owned by Home Depot
