Speaking of banking. I went to Walmart to pick up a prepaid debit card the other day. I use those when I’m making purchases from questionable places. I only load the amount of the purchase I’m making. Well, there was a problem with the card I purchased so I went and got another card. The manager helped me out because the employee that was doing it was new.
I went to my truck and for whatever reason I just decided I would call and activate the card before leaving. They told me there was no money on it, so a 30 minute conversation later, trying to dispute it and this that. I ended up sending them emails and dealing with people that are India with a heavy accent. I think I’m squared away, but I decide to go back into the store just to see if there’s something they can do.
Luckily, the manager was there and he remembered me. New employee ended up handing me the bad card and keeping the one that actually got the money loaded onto it. I don’t think it was intentional because I went back into the store when I realized there was a problem and they were able to find the card in the trash.
Now fast forward to today I go to make the purchase and the card is declined. So I called credit card company again. It turns out that because I disputed the purchase, but I gave them the incorrect information because I received the wrong card. They now blocked all the funds on this card as well.
Chalk it up to another time of my overthinking things causing me way more problems than what it’s worth.
