Been reading so much my eyes are crossed. Picked up an 2006 LBZ which will dragging around 12-14k pretty regularly. Would a 2020 cooler be the ticket?

Would not hurt anything but can potentially help. If you're concerned, might as well do it

Pretty concerned about the grades we have here in Utah. Sustained 7%+ in high temps.

Just trying to have a solid ass tow pig and not have to worry about cooking the oil.

Maybe do an external oil cooler

Have you read through Jame's lemo thread? He has a bunch of good information on oil cooling. I believe Adam's thread on his LMM has some stuff too

This was all done before the L5P had been out for a full year..

Today, I'd do the L5P cooler first see where your at, then add auxiliary cooler
And these are the parts I'd use knowing what I know now.
I ran 8ga wire and a ST85 solenoid relay to control the fan, it will pull 40-50a under a load and melt common 40A square relays.
They do make an 11" version of this, do it again is go 12"

These are $$$ this one puts of 60-70,000BTUs without a fan pulling through it IIRC..
There's an assortment of filter relocation and sandwiches plates with/without thermostats to choose from.

Personally did remote mount oil filter full flow and frame mounted right behind the Tcase. ran -10 PTFE Teflon SS braided lines.. not cheap.. I don't remember of the top of my head if I created a pressure drop, if I did it was less than 5psi measured via stand a lone mechanical gauge and wasn't worth talking about much.

I do offer a DIY remote oil cooler package as well as full kits for 2020+ swaps if desired.

The Setrab cooler I use pulls gobs of heat out (75-80kbtu) and is relatively small overall including SPAL fans etc.
