We have a place called Jimbos that kills the Waffle House. I need to go visit again, been years…
Spent the weekend attempting repairs on my friend Mark's 2017 Chrysler 300 S he bought late last year. I found later that it was a front-end hit car that was repaired "half-assed" and sold (Id call it something else, but this is a family site). Yes, he got suckered by some piece of shit asshole from Dearborn who Id like to find and beat the ever-loving crap out of.
Took the front bumper cover off, and found he's going to have to spend a lot of money he doesnt really have to fix this car properly. Radiator support is broken in three places, missing fascia supports and framework, wrong bumper cover (needs parking sensors on this particular car), missing harnesses, one headlight broken and only held up with two bolts, etc, etc, etc. I figure at least $1000 in used parts alone. Keep in mind that this is after he's had to have other work done, like the radiator not even being bolted in, replacing front suspension/steering parts that were bent, etc.
Ive got to find a body manual for this car and start going over what all we need to find to do the job correctly, not to mention needing to know proper fasteners and such. I told him no guarantees, as I am pretty sure the front frame section is still bent and misaligned. Its going to take some doing.
...and before you ask, no body shop will touch the car and he has absolutely no knowledge or ability to repair it himself.
Oh well, off to Bob Evans for breakfast.

I'm back. Over did the hiking at the canyon. Went down the South Kaibab trail to the tip off point, then tonto tail over to the bright angel. Trail was way worse then expected. The logs and rocks they put in the path to make them like stairs made them way worse then if they had left it alone. We started at around 8:45am and didn't get back out to the top until 3am. We basically did half the hike in the dark
If we visit again we are probably just going to stay at the rim and view everything from the top. We where/still am pretty sore. We ended up cancelling some of our other activities we planned because there was no way we could accommodate more after that. Our legs hurt so bad. Still a little sore today

Glad you had a good, albeit tired, time, Jason. Its beautiful country, thats for sure.
Update on the Chrysler 300 fiasco...
I got the existing bumper mounted better than it was, and fixed a bunch of other half-ass BS, but I told him there were a lot of parts missing. After a lot of research, Ive found everything we're going to need to bring the car back to safe and OEM. Will take a few weeks to get all the parts in, so around Tgiving I should have the car repaired to my satisfaction.
As for the Colorado, I'm exploring adding a heated steering wheel to it. Sort of a fun side project. Still no new codes.
Had a funny thing happen on Bookface a few weeks ago. Customer on the old route posted she couldnt find her Amazon pkg, and included the picture of the delivery. I immediately knew where it had been delivered bc the driver had partially included the wheel of the neighbor's '85 Olds Cutlass in the pic. I replied she needed to check in her neighbor's garage. An hour later, she writes, "Yes, it was there! How did you know?" I quipped, "Id know that Cutlass wheel anywhere, knew it was John's car!"
That got lots of laughs from people, saying even though Im retired, Im not really retired. Have to admit, I do miss it.
