That truck is solid wood, about 16" long. It was made to be a toy, and it's pretty cool.

I was like a 15 y/o kid when the coach handed me that helmet and told me it was from the coaching staff and team. Seriously, I geeked out. ?

Son 3D printed a card "dropbox", too. That was cool.

It was a beautiful venue in the little town I grew to love. Lots of people, lots of stories.
I've got to wait for pics from my kids, bc once the party started, I didn't have time.

Thats awesome tom!!

Spent the afternoon lifting my boys pw50. Dude had a growth spurt and he just got it back in jan. Need to sqeak 1 more year out of it. So made 1” risers for the bars, front forks and rear shocks. Probably going to get him a taller seat too. Prior to the lift, she had all kinds of space under the tires when on the kick stand. Long gone now

Awesome Tom!!!

I found 2 '18 Buick regal tourX local-ish to me yesterday.. got to test drive one..
Both turbo 2.0 AWD.
Kinda impressive how it swallowed me up
Could put fists over end on top of my head and not touch the roof.
IDK if the pedals move but seat adjusted for natural resting position put the steering ~2" in front of my hands for cruising at the 8-7 and 4-5 position, couldn't reach any of the buttons on the info dash with seriously leaning towards it .

Road noise is substantially louder then my suburban. Probably unibody to ladder frame problems.

Solid 6-6.5 foot worth of length between the tailgate and back of the front seat.. could definitely haul few 8' sticks of lumber splitting the front seat.

Basically it cost what I'd spend on rebuilding my 01 2500 suburban... Haven't bought anything yet

James - my godson is 6. Dad and I are looking for a cheap pw50, but there’s a bunch of steals on pw80’s. I know it has a clutch, but it is that much of a stretch to take a kid from an
electric dirtbike on an m18 12.0AH straight to an 80 instead of the 50?

PFA - last Thursday in the Pine Barrens :)

Depends on how “bad” he wants to ride. I could throw my son on a kick start 110 with a clutch, it be way too and say “figure out how to start and ride it and its yours” and that kid would probably spend a week if he had to, to figure it out. My daughter on the other hand is not that way lol. I have to keep it fun and simple or shes out… till she gets a little adrenaline in her and she starts to get competitive.

The pw80 should be semi auto so he doesnt actually use a clutch but he will have to shift it. You just dont want to make it too hard on them. They gotta enjoy the bike. The pw50 will be too small for him in short order unless hes a little guy. Honda 50 or pw80 would probably fit him better, for longer. He can just rip around in 1st gear till he gets the bike figured out.

Thanks! I’m more like your son, so it’s hard for me to put myself in a normal kid’s shoes, hahaha. I was riding a two wheeler before I was 2.

I’m the same with my daughter! She has my sense of humor but her mother’s timidity. Shes 16 and we are driving on her permit now. At her age I was already taking my boat out into the bay and ocean for 3 years alone and driving was a breeze. (It was also all that I thought about my entire life!!) For her, it’s difficult but she’s coming around. She passengered with my wife recently and told me about how badly mom drives, hahaha.

I have vacation scheduled this weekend for traveling to the grand canyon and camping overnight in the Kaibab forest just south of the entrance. Can't really change my days as it was hard enough to get these days off and I had to reserve them a month in advance. Getting GF schedule and mine to line up for a vacation was not easy

Now it looks like there is going to be a storm coming through and rain at least Friday and Saturday. Sunday may be less with a little chance of sun.

What should I expect? Is any hiking off the menu? I was all prepared to do a rim to river hike. Saw the website stating that the silver bridge and some lower trails are closed. But with this government shutdown ????

Thinking of toughing it out and getting a little dirty if need be. Poncho, good hiking boots. Fast drying light weight pants. Typical bladder backpack with food, first aid, flashlight, knife, etc. I'm determined to not miss out on a good grand canyon visit

Anyone @Chevy1925 hint hint know the area well enough and done something similar? Or knows the weather and what to expect?

Or should I bail on the hiking and be a typical tourist and just stand at the top and ogle at the sights?

Lemme tell ya, that down-canyon hike to the lookout down by the river is a HIKE. We were going to do it, but it was very cold and windy, and we didnt have proper clothes or supplies. You've obviously got the needed stuff down, budget a lot of water and time. Start out at sun-up.
Its beautiful there. Be on the rim at sun-up or sun-down. Your brain wont be able to handle the sight.

As far as hiking, I just keep an eye on the weather map and see what it’s looking like for the day. It’s either gonna be a light drizzle most day or on and off hard ass rainfall with lightning and thunder. I don’t know that I’d wanna be hiking down the canyon in torrential downpour just due to the fact you’re gonna have a lot of overspill of water running from the top down creating little waterfalls. I’d say just play it by ear or eyes in this case lol.

You can always go down into Williams and do a little drive back towards Sycamore Falls in Sycamore lookout. It’s a short hike to the fall, but that might be pretty pretty with the rain and everything going on.

Not sure about UTV rentals but you could always go into flag and then up to Sunset crater national Park, see if you can get a rental UTV by there and then go out exploring out there. If you’ve never been to the cinders, it’s quite the experience. Even a 4wd truck aired down will go just about anywhere. The limo spent many weekends out there when i went to nau

What about Meteor Crater Natural Landmark? Worth it if we are out there?

About a 2 hour drive. I have not been there since i was a kid but it was cool to see once and learn the history. Seems like they have added some things since then. I drove by it on the 40 a few times for my deer hunt and saw new signs about shit they added.

Bearizona is suppose to be cool. I have not taken the kids there yet.

Be prepared to waiting during the weekend in williams if you wanna eat there. Breakfast is decent till about 8-9ish, then it gets busy. Lunch is always packed, dinner it depends. Grand canyon brewery in williams is good food and beer. Tusayan isnt as packed. Flag will depend on if anything big is going on but waits arent horrible. Lots of good food. La Fondas (mexican), Fratelli’s pizza, miss zips, martannes, hard to beat the mom and pop restaurants there. Even williams is that way

I think the South Kaibab trail down to the river is almost all on the ridge . This I think would be somewhat safer from water falls and run off. But the typical trail going back up, the bright Angel trail is more in valleys and running along a stream that could get some excess flow and run off.

I think may end up just going down the South Kaibab and come back up the same way if it gets too dangerous further down
