Looking at one local, any opinions on em? Friend had a xd45 and liked it so hoping the 40 is just as good.

I didn't care for how long the trigger reset was on my friends XD45. But it's been a few year since I shot one. Maybe they changed that.

Not all concerned with that. Just don't want .45 cause of price and single stack capacity.

Its just for a range gun and winter hobby.

For a range toy buy a 9 I'm a m&p guy but I won't go into that. Not like you're asking about a high point.

Its a used gun sitting on the shelf, so price wise, it fits my budget. If that changes anything :D

I've shot both the XD40 and the XDm40.... I was a bit more accurate with the XD but the XDm was more comfortable in my hands (better ergonomics). Both are great guns imho

good price and good gun. I have an XD and I've done quite a bit to it. Didn't like the amount of pre-travel it had so I installed a Powder River Precision trigger kit and a few parts. Made a huge difference and its a blast to shoot. But for plinking at the range I prefer 9mm over .40 any day. Just my preference though.

I was looking at PRP trigger stuff for both mine... Worth time and money putting them in?

Definitely. The trigger is light, crisp, little pre-travel, zero over-travel, and a quick reset. I shoot a lot better with it.

Update, the xd40 sold before I could grab it, so ordered a new PPX in .40

Slight risk but it was cheap enough so we shall see.
