I would expect to rebuild if it shifts funny. My brother bought an 01 basket case duramax that had a "built" trans in the bed with a blue single disk. We tore it apart to make sure, while it did have altos it was half azz to say the least...

Phil Taylor's converters (diesel performance converters) are dark blue if I'm not mistaken. That would be a good thing

Its a blue metallic on phils stuff. Very distinctively cut cover too

thanks guys i will check it out its a third owner and he is not sure on the details of the trans an did however say that it seems to hit hard 4-5 but who is to say itn not just locking then thanks again guys

Looks like the front cover is machined billet, doesnt look stock IMO. You can roll the engine over to see if the mounting tabs on the converter are welded on like stock, or a single machined rib.
