It does seem that the lt4 stuff is not up for big power. I’m not even sure now if this is the right platform to go with
. My wife’s Tahoe ate a couple of lifters, 6months ago. I believe it’s an L88? 5.3 DI. That turned into quite the repair bill.
Need a truck and Not a fan of ford or ram 1500s. Maybe be buying another diesel pickup

Lol, it’s getting the job done. I just really wanted to build a gasser this Time. But I’m not going down the built engine rabbit hole with them lol! I’m a huge fan of the 14-18 body style GMC.
You can get by with swapping lifters and tuning from some reading I've done but I'd rather do oil pump and all and know it's right, I've been waiting on mine to break a lifter spring, it's never ran in v4 mode but that doesn't keep them from breaking

The Ram TRX is coming this year. Has a Hellcat engine. 707HP if you're interested.
Buy a 2010 to 2013 GM 5.3 (LMG is sought after, has 243 heads and is flex fuel) with a 6l80 and go nuts! The stock bottom end can hold over 1000 hp and my trans is still stock with 35k miles of me pounding on it at 800+ plus crank hp. I found a regular cab with auto track, they have steel drive shafts, upgraded u joints, flex fuel and lots of other goodies that help make power and hold up to it. I did have to build up the rear end, added a Detroit true trac and some beefy axles, the stock g80 didn't like my daily power slides thru turns at 45 mph. I swear there is nothing like a well built blower motor, it hits like punch in the face when it lights up and pulls to 7k+ like a freight train. Lol...

is the flex fuel in those the "virtual" style or do they actually use a sensor? i dont remember if the trucks ever got a sensor.
Mine has no sensor I run 93 but you can add one if you want to run e85.
reason i ask is the virtual setup GM runs is slow to react and can give you lean spots or rich spots. its a big thing in the car world that if you want to run flex fuel, you need to add in the sensor or run the risk of going lean on boost/power enrichment and popping the engine.
Most serious guys test E85 fuel before it goes in the tank to keep from blowing up the engine under boost.
