I agree with you other than the fact I bought a few things that were on sale.
From the business side, my building had a very rough week and burnt us all out. Greed is the only word I can use to describe our business model moving forward unfortunately.
You can avoid people by living in Wyoming lol, 10 min drive and I can be alone

We usually go to orange Beach. Right next door to Perdido key. Waters just not as nice as destin. Last year we did ft Walton. It was nice too!

Anyone used rydlyme or nu-calgon for cleaning like/scale out of close loop systems? Stuff isn't exactly "cheap" at ~$20.00 a gallon.

Is it calcium scale? I can ask a water treatment specialist i know. If its calcium scale (like hard water) you can try something like naval jelly in the cooling system or Ospho rust treatment (both are phosphoric acid) which will eat the calcium but not the steel.
After running the phosphoric acid, then run old fashioned dishwasher detergent like cascade through it to clean it. The Cascade has a grit to it that will also help break up the stuff the phosphoric acid weekend.

What is the closed loop system used for??? I am guessing for cooling.
Be careful as some acids can destroy seals on pumps. Found that out the hard way. Tried to flush a system with a product for cooling systems. A day later I had to replace the pump.
On Holding tanks that circulate or filter the water I have used scrubbing bubbles to clean up the build up.
I tried CLR and Lime away, even at full strength and just didn't seem either product would cut through scale even with a scotch brite scrub pad. The scrubbing bubbles though, cut through and wiped down most surfaces with a rag... the real hard build up required a scrub pad but it did come off unlike the other two products.

I talked with my brother the water expert. The Rydlyme will work on the calcium. HOWEVER, you will need to add a defaming agent (available at pool or hot tub store) as the breaking down of calcium will cause hydrogen and carbon dioxide release which will cause the foam. Also, you will need to remove the thermostat or it will capitate and eat itself up. After you get the desired results, you will need to do multiple flushes to get rid of the residual Rydlyme as it will destroy the antifreeze.
Check out the other stuff I suggested as it will work the same way, still needing the defamer and no thermostat.
With either of the chemicals you use, if its possible to flow the water without running the engine it will work. In any case as temp of the water increases so does the chemical reaction to convert the calcium. Be careful as if it gets up to op temp it becomes detrimental to aluminum. Recommended max temp 120F will make everything be happy.
