Saved that pic from an Onan class I was at. They wouldn't hand out the pics of them painted green for whatever reason, but saw a few on the instructors computer hooked to a generator. They're massive. Can't remember the specs (something like 90 liters & the gen is rated in mega watts) but he said they bring them online once a month & power part of the grid to help out energy usage from the plant.

That's how our local municipality maintenance building is for the city of Columbus. During the summer on days where there are high usage they will kick the generator on to help the power company out.

We are not talking about your normal building though either. This place is HUGE! As is the generator. 24/7 365. Never shuts down

Found a pic from google of the engine & gen in onan colors. Looked through my notes from the class. The gen is rated at 3.5 Mw

Wow that's a beast. Where is it located? I hear all of Hawaii's power comes from diesel generators.

Onan has 4 or 5 installed at their plant in Michigan. Other big company's have them as well. Google, Microsoft, etc.

That's a noise lab, not an actual install location.
I just thought it was somewhere they didn't want any noise. Lol

Is the noise lab just for the part of the initial R&D so they know how loud they're going to be?

Usually yes. I've worked in a few in the past. When you talk to someone you want to yell because there is no echo and it is even hard to hear yourself. Really strange rooms to be in. Although the one above it looks like there is no absorbent material on the floor so it might not be as bad.

Overheated my semi, twice, yanking a Kobelco crawler crane track up a 6% grade. Foot was in the fan for a good 15 minutes. Nice views at 15 mph haha
