It's a very effective bidirectional scan tool. By itself it pretty much just reads codes, can do logging of data and down/upload tunes. When pared with a computer/laptop it can do bidirectional communication with the TCM and ECM giving you lots of control over diagnostics. Later years with the DPF, it can initiate a forced regen

And unlike many scan tools. The flashscan can read codes from nearly every module on the vehicle. And report emissions readiness status

Jason posted this in another thread. I've got a V2 and am wondering just how a person would go about doing these things ^^^^ . Keep in mind, the only time Ive ever used EFILive is on my LB7, so using it for these newer trucks is a mystery to me.

My V3 will report emission readiness. It’s been awhile since I checked but to my knowledge EFI Live is not able to force Regens at least on LMLs.

This is a photo of the V7.5 scan tool. V8 has something similar but I find V7.5 more reliable for bidirectional tools

The DVT tab is where the fun begins. I like to detach the tab so I can see the data tab and the DVT tab at the same time. The control sub tab has a lot of other good tools for disabling injectors, controlling engine RPM, turbo vane and other. The options available charge depending on what's available for that controller. LB7 would have the least options and the newer trucks like LML have a lot more. Never tried an L5P to see what's available

FYI,

Be carefully with the latest download from EFI Live. It no longer supports the old 7.5 since its end of life.

A friend of mine updated his because he need support on something newer. He tried to use the 7.5 on an older LS1B and that's when he found out.

He was able to fumble through but he has been tunning the older LS1B platforum with 7.5 for so long that he knows were everything is. Some things are just different in V8...

Are you referring to the firmware on the flashscan? Because 7.5 is a different program altogether. Would suck if they are now blocking the 7.5 from working through the firmware

Ive got both V7.5 and V8. V7.5 only supports up to 2015 LML. The Colorado LWN is supported by V8.

I think the Firmware has to be updated for the newer stuff. I am a few updates behind. Sorry, I got food poisoning 2 days ago so between that and the Job I am on I haven't been around.

Looks like in April 2022 was the last V7 release and it was displaying Firmware: V2.08.189 (Apr 8, 2022)

The latest release shows Firmware: V2.08.195 according to the notes.

Being that the Forums are not as active, I am not sure any one has reported it or complained about it. Also they have kind of told us we need to move on and learn the new stuff.....

V7.5 is still being updated to be compatible with V8. The latest stable version is available here: https://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?31698-Jan-14-2025-V8-4-71-Public-Release-Update-4
