Simon gave me the idea to use an online speed calculator or rpm
given 3.73 r/p and .71 od in 5th
tire size rpm @125mph
27 4120
28 3972
29 3845
30 3708
31 3588
32 3478
33 3371

do these figures look inline with real life and does the 28 inch look like a safe rpm?
I understand we dont let off rite at the 1/4 mile either

I would take a 1/2" off:) We tend to run less air.

Also its alot to do with the compound that the tire is.....That makes it good.( for slicks ) So ive heard.

What little I still remember... :D

You will see diameter growth with bias-ply tires as low as 110 mph. At 120 is was about 5% IIRC.

Your best ET's will normally be over-rev'd. In other words, let's say your best MPH gearing gets 120 mph. Your best ET will be shorter gears, and about 118mph. You should flatten out at about 200' before the traps.

I'd also look into 3.42's. I love 'em.
