I have a 2001 2500HD 6.0, a friend of mine has a neighbor that had his 2001 LBZ t-boned and the truck is sitting in his yard, besides the motor, long bed (mine is short) the 2 trucks are identical, down to the color. The diesel has less then 60k mileage and my 6.0 has a little over a 100k

my question is this if I take the motor, trans, and computer will it be a simple bolt up? are the motor mounts in the same place?

and if i attempt to do this swap what other thing should i look into swaping out from truck to truck.

Is it even worth my time to try to do an engine swap

all comments good and bad are gladly welcomed, thanks in advance!

I'm not sure what you classify my comment as, but an '01 will not be an LBZ, it's an LB7. :D

As far as the transplant goes, I have no idea. Let the ideas begin!

LBZ didn't exist in 2001. It came out in 06. Do you man LB7?

Edit: beat me to it kid.

then there's all the little things, like torsion bars, fuel filler neck and sending unit, rad support ( bigger radiator and intercooler now) possibly rears, dash cluster, fuel lines, if the price for his truch is right and your mechanically inclined, it could be worth it.

It should be a very straight forward swap, since you're using the same year vehicles.

There will be minor differences, but I think you'll see those as you go.
