Sump

If installing a Fass 165, do you have to use a sump? Had a shop tell me you did, and installation was as much as the part, totaling $1250. Seemed a little steep. Thought I'd watch youtube and do it myself but didn't know about the sump. Thanks

i much prefer the factory sump over the ones guys add to the bottom of their tanks if the truck sees daily use or you like to run your tank low

The bottom sump will make the Fass more quiet. Is it a much have? No.

I hate sumps, why just because :roflmao:
Pull out your factory pick up. Hook a 5/8” diesel rated fuel line to the vent. Cut a bigger hole in your cup. Run the fuel line you added into the cup with a 45* cut at the end. Hook your feed line from the FASS to the vent.

I believe something needs to be done with the factory pickup especially if a lift pump is installed that returns fuel back into the tank. I noticed a huge difference just with throttle response modifying the pickup.

I just put my FASS 150 in-line with the factory stuff and let it eat in my LBZ.

LML they suggest running a draw straw or sump but I just did the same thing again. No P0087 yet lol.

in all the LMM/LBZ i dicked with, i cant say i noticed a difference between the factory pick up and aftermarket one. hell Kyle made 8 or 900hp on his stock pickup in his LMM.

I gained 4mph going from the factory pickup to Kennedy’s

My lift pump is just installed inline with no modifications to the pick up. No issues yet

More around 1,100hp lol. I did go with a sump when I went to stroker pump. Did -10 to the pump and it picked up about 4psi of lift pump pressure at idle just from the sump and feed line

While I don’t really like the idea of a sump for a few different reasons it is one of the best ways to get max efficiency of the lift pump. It certainly quietened my buddies 165 FASS in his lml by it not having to work so hard to draw fuel. Would likely increase pump/motor life also.

I went 10.6@133 on a stock lly pickup and airdog 165.

I did end up adding a beans sump, but I don't feel like it added any power.

I just wanna know when someone will finally come out with an intank lift pump like the fleece setup for dodges. thats the way to go

I’m under the impression you have to do a sump with an LML due to the restrictive pick up.

I didn’t. But I think you could probably do a drawstraw too but I’ve never seen the top of an lml tank so not sure what’s there for room.
