Is there any differnce in the kodiak tunes?? Are they a better tune to run? Do that still have the allison 1,000 or is it bigger? If its a bigger tranny will are tcm support the tune?

Sorry for all the question just trying to learn a couple things.

Not sure about the difference, but I believe they are always in tow/haul. They do have the same 1000 series allison as in our trucks.

............ I would thought you have known this Kurt, Yes they run an Allison 1000 it is just regeared. I don't believe we have found advantages to running a Kodiak TCM.

It was just looking lonely here in the TCM library....thought I'd put a tune in here just in case someone wanted a permanent tow/haul tune.

On anything but a 4500 truck it is going to be a real muther f...er on the street.

They are fine for racing or pulling but anytime you let of the gas they instantly down shift to 4th. I tried one out for about 15 miles and had to pull into a Steak n Shake and put another tcm tune in my truck. I couldn't stand it.

They are called MD's per GM . They have a larger Bellhousing and a outputshaft mounted EM Brk.
Here is a stock 5500 tune for a 1600 OS w/allison
@ 65 MPH they run in excess of 2400 RPM lousey mileage

Isn't the 2400RPMs at 65MPH, more of a rear differential gearing than a transmission thing??

What I"m saying is same motor and trans w/differences
1000 MD = bigger bellhousing, brakedrum brake @ back of trans,no tow haul,
5th gear lock out switch
normally 4500, 5500 come w/5:13, 4:78 ,4:56,or 4:44 the later 2 have huge weight restictions when ordering so your stuck w/5:13 or 4:78 = 2400 @ 65

I am going from a 33" tall to a 37" tire. With my 5.13 gears, it should still have the grunt to tow, without the high RPMs I am getting at 65 MPH. 255/70/22.5
