I can hear it now. "There's a filter in there? I had no idea."

Joe, you can always add one to the 03-07s. You're "20 minutes and a dremel" away from having one.
In fact, GM started marketing a retrofit kit like I used to make.
Do you have a write up here showing how easy it is?

Mine is a 2008. Unless something changed they never offered it on mine that I am aware of.
ADepending on the AC unit installed it can be added. The link below shows how this was preformed on a GMT 900. At the end of the thread some people with a base model showed they didn't have the same area to cut out.

I'll have to go look and see if I posted it here. Its from back in 2006/07 ish.
Would rather give you the credit and keep it here Vs posting a link to some where else.

I have N.O.S. L shaped brackets I bought 10 plus years ago for the GMT800. I don't know if Dorman has those. I recall them selling the flat one for the later style. Been so long I forget now.

I can take my truck apart if need be for pictures. I still need to convert both my trucks.

No, its old old news.

You actually found the covers for the L shaped, oddball HVAC unit GM used in some trucks? Dang....I looked everywhere for those back then.

In the end, some a-hole ex-soldier from Ft Bragg copied my idea and marketed it. Then GM and Dorman decided to create their own retrofits, which honestly was really what the entire exercise was about. GM was reading the Place back then, and it must've hit a nerve with them. The old Trailblazer had them, and GM simply copied that over to the -800s.

Yeah, The Parts were still available in 2016ish... I bought like 10 of them and a 10 pack of the screws. That is the style my 2000 truck had. All the GMT800 trucks I have had apart look like they could use that style. But Obviously you have to check...

Yep, that was the style HVAC that Jeff had. Very rare unit compared to the style with the flat filter boss on the very bottom.

Oh brother.

Well, you're definitely in the right thread for a reference to that sorry incident from the DP past. That confrontation was, IMO, the impetus behind this forum taking off the way it did. Nick became the thing he created DP to get away from. Pat, being as outspoken as he was, was the target.

Funny, but I was going to bring that very thing up in next month's chat.
